Exhaust soot all over my rear bumper, common issue?
My car has been collecting black soot like particles all over the rear bumper. Should I be worried or is sort of thing common with a F/I Z?
It seems to be common imo. You want to run a richer tune then a NA z and you probably have no cats either. Rich = black smoke, richer = more black smoke.
My bumper has a medium amount compared to my buddys james TT z. His bumper gets dark in a hurry. Both of us have redlines so its easy to compare.

I think it is pretty common for FI, especially if you have delete pipes.
FWIW, mine seems to be a little worse in the colder months vs. the warmer ones. Not sure if thats because of the FCON adding fuel for the colder climate or what, not sure.
I can say in regard to the soot, that Sharif's current FCON tune is MUCH better than the unichip tune I had when the APS-TT kit was first installed. With the unichip, the bumper was always covered with soot, even a day after washing the car. With the latest FCON tune, it takes several weeks before its really noticeable.

Mine does the same thing... I found a solution to get rid of it easily though.. First use tar remover to get rid of the stains.. (Yeah, they stain too!! if you leave them unwashed for a while) Then wax the crap out of your rear bumper often where the black soot builds up.
Nexx, the problem is that your car is white.
Shows like a ****. Even our white GTR, running 4 OEM cats, collects the crap on bumper. I have to wash it off every 2-3 days, or my bumper looks gunmetal.

clay bar works well for getting it off. I have a repainted bumper and for some reason it gets rough and pouris(sp?) and the **** bonds to it over time, claybar it and wax it and its nice and smooth and a few months later its rough again.
I wouldn't use rubbing compound though imo
