Turbonetics Build Block
Im not looking for anyone to hate on this. Im gonna be one of the few people to build the block using the turbonetics kits. Im shooting for 500+ whp and maybe a 50 shot. I dont see the point in selling the whole kit for 3k and buying another kit for 6k to get that power.
So this is what im doing for the build, any input or help would be appreciated.
-Brian Crower Pro Series Rods and Pistons
-Port Heads and Valve Bodies
-Custom 3 Inch Downpipe
-Redo Turbo Piping To Get Rid Of The S Turn In Front Of The Motor
-Standalone ECU
-600 CC Injectors
-Kinetix SSV Manifold
-Possible Water Injection, But Trying To Get That Power On Just 91.
Anyone have any idea or suggestions it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

wow for that engine id rather do a kit that can put 650-700whp out the box, if you want to stick with single there are other options, or twins too up to you...but the point is 500hp with TN is possible but very inefficient to do, worthless IMO specially for the kind of engine you want. Enjoy the kit for what it is: a great cheap kit for stock block. Others have gone down that path of "batardizing" it and failed... SO why its better to change it? cuase 1st you get a kit that is designed for the powergoals you want and more, and in the end you dont actually save money after the cost of time and material and R&D to make you modifications you want work.
As far as the parts for the engine you picked.. you are solid and already overkill(no need for headwork) for your powergoals, better if you use the money on better kit.

how much are you pushing with your set up?
its also less cost effective in my opinion to sell the kit and pay another 3-4k on top of it to get 500whp. I live in ca, so all this im doing is already illegal. I rather not have 15k invested incase something does happen.
Only kit i would consider is maybe the Powerlabs kit or the SFR T4 single turbo. But even then its at least another 3500-4000 i have to pay just for the kit.

I set the over/under at a year before he upgrades to twins after building the block.
Unless you are immune to the boost drug, once you get a taste you will find that if your wallet allows it, you will want more power. With this setup you will be maxed out already and will start trolling the classifieds for used twin kits. I understand your intentions and wish you luck on your build.

i mean not necesarly twins.. powerlab is perfectly capable of hitting 650-700whp mark too... but lol, its basically like go-fasts caption and as you say, maybe 6-8 months till he decides to upgrade the turbo kit.

I suggest buying a better kit, something like the SP 61mm twins. Otherwise you will need to run lots of boost and have meth injection with the 91 youre putting in. Not a very efficient way to go.

I am going to do it!!
I am planning on going the built block TN kit route myself. I have already ditched the TN turbo and installed a Precision SC-61. I am planning on a basic built short block, cams, 15 psi, meth injection and a 75 shot. I think 525is doable with ease.

I hate the turbonetics kit with my life. Gave me so many headaches so i sold that and bought greddy twins. LOL
and about the kinetix ssv manifold. I heard that only does anything if you raise the rev limiter and have serious head work. Can anybody verify that.

I liked my TN Single for what it was - a great addition for power on my stock block without a large expense. The kit, in my experience, gives adequate power gains when price is considered, its just that you have to be willing to accept that it has limits.
The Powerlab kit is the hottest thing going right now, especially since they have kits made for the HR's. In time I'm sure they will come up with better illustrated instructions and have some of the small fitment kinks worked out, but the ability to convert this kit from DD sedate to high HP monster is what makes it appealing as well.
For me personally, having had a single, I wanted to go twins and the APS TT Tuner kit was too good a value to pass up. However, to max out at the same HP as the PL kit I would probably have to upgrade turbos to the extremes and then the cost savings is probably a push. I want to see a custom Turbonetics TT setup, the torque would be unreal .

The SC-61 was a direct bolt in. My car pulls much harder up top with the SC-61 vs. the TN 60-1. I am not sure what the TN turbo is good for as far a max hp but the SC-61 is good to 700.
