Maybe up to 1400 deg F on the high side / 1200 deg F at cruise / down to 750 deg F at idle. HR motor with sensor located in the exhaust manifold.

GTM, but it shouldn't be much difference if you have an HR motor as well:

EGT's are tough to compare.

Placement of the probe means sooooo much. a 1 inch difference in placement can mean 100degrees difference.

Guys I'm looking into fitting a defi EGT set up in my car when I get my APS TT fitted. Where the best location for the sensor? Pre cat or after the cat and I'm not sure what bank to put it in? Could I fit it into the outlet of my Y pipe or is this to far from the block and would read low?

Thats waaaaaaayyyyyy too far away. Pre-cat may never break 800 degrees post cat you'd be licky to be over 600 degrees (just guessing on those numbers but they'd be waaay lower than in the manifold).

Also you'd really want 2 (one for each bank). In a perfect world you'd want 6, one in each runner of the manifold.

Idealy you want it in the manifold.

I will PM you some pics of my EGT sensor location. I have the APS TT and defi gauge.

Cruising at 80mph mines @ 1000F on a built motor.

Thanks alot mate. Im leaning towards going for the sensor in the 3.5 inch down pipe as i can fit the senson bung and get it welded in before they go on the car.

definitely go in the exhaust manifold, where all the ports come together. After the turbo will be at least 300 degrees cooler since the turbo is oil cooled.

to really know what is going on...you'll want the sensor between the head and the turbo. you want to know the highest EGTs!!!
