Anyone use Osiris when FI?
i am currently have a 04 touring z with the powerlab gt35r kit and utech ecu.. i currently have it for sale but am thinking now of kepping it and building since i have already dumped so much into it... back to the point, i do no like the utech, those of you who have it know some of the issues related. i was at S&R Performance the other day and they were telling me of a program they used called osiris(uprev) that uses the stock ecu for tuning.. they said it works great with fi vehicles, all the info i have seen on this is that it works well with NA vehicles. so my question is, is anyboby here using this with their FI car, if so whats your impressions? thanks
Uprev just recently started offering this software, there are some people running it, but not sure how many, but I know that it has its pluses and downs, first you have to think about what your goals are in terms of performance in short term and long term than it will be easier to make a decision. As far as I've heard it an good inexpensive solution, but not sure about it's long term reliability, I don't have enough knowledge.
Osiris tunes the OEM ECU to control the engine. The OEM ECU doesn't understand MAP mode, so the MAF sensors must be used. The OEM MAF sensors lose their ability to differentiate air-flow levels at a certain boost level (the OEM MAF sensor is maxed out at 5 volts), so a third part MAF sensor has to be used. UpRev supplies a third party MAF sensor to solve this problem.
S&R has installed these MAF sensors in boosted cars and used Osiris to tune them with good results.
This is just a short overview. There are more threads about it in the tuning section, as Jay'Z said. Since you live in Florida, you should stop by the S&R Performance Technology day on Sunday, January 25th. Here's a link to the S&R thread here on my350Z.
