I would help. But it would be a small donation. Overall, I have been following this thread and I think that Ravaz got screwed.

Are you thinking about taking them to court to get some of your money back for their horribly botched attempt at an install?

Default hey guys

i just got my car back with the procharger and im scarred because it was put back together by a autobody shop not a motorsport shop and it has the same problem where at low idle it sounds like its grinding something and every once in a while the car smells like someone lit a match in the engine....does this mean its also running lean like ravs car?..plus the first day i got my car back it drove fine for 45 minutes then all of a sudden my engine temp went all the way up to the max and quickly dropped right back down to normal again....ever since then it has not overheated given that its only been 3 days....also, i cant even dyno the damn car cuz every tuner on earth is jerking off at sema right now...some advice from my fellow FI 350z owners will help out a lot...thanks

I definitely recommend limiting the driving and definitely don't hump the gas pedal! Take it back to the installer ASAP and have them check it out!

Thanks Eddie for the offer to help me out, it's really really appreciated . I think I'll be fine. I have the money for the new engine and other crap, it just pisses me off that they screwed up the radiator and that other thing is part of the ATI kit. Maybe I can send it off to ATI and they will give me a new one under warranty, who knows. They can atleast replace it for free (I hope). Am I going to sue them? Nah.........
Dunno what I'm going to do, top priority right now is getting this b*tch on the road ASAP. Performance Nissan gave me a good price on the radiator, but you have to buy that and the housing and other stuff, so I'm going to call the place I got my engine from and hopefully they can hook it up. I'd just get an ARC radiator, but I saw the advertised price for it on the Vendor forum, 1400$ or something crazy like that..

evilz. Did you ever get any A/F #'s? You have an EGT gauge? (worthless in my opinion anyway) Make sure your settings are as rich as possible for now, until you can get it tuned otherwise. Was it even tuned? I wouldn't punch it hard if I were you.

An EGT is the best friend you can have if installed correctly and in the right location., AF meters are generally and change way to quickly to geta good reading, i can tune a car with nothing more than an EGT gauge and get pretty darn close to perfect, now with a professional wideband O2 its a different story, but those blinky light AF guages are WORTHLESS!

I say it was worthless for me, because it didn't tell me sh*t until last second (when it happened).

evilz, you probably had a bubble in your coolant lines.......top off your coolant to make sure you have enough........the grinding noise and the sulfur smell i dunno about.......check everything out to make sure it looks right.........since this was put together at a body shop i'm assuming that you got into an accident?........try to listen to your compressor when its idling........watch the belts track to see if their straight......if there was an accident, your S/C compressor might have been damaged if it was impacted

for the locals.. I think Bill here was the black Z that was dropping off the day we were dyno'ing at AA wasn't he? He had the injen and was dropping off for the ATI install.

I was never going to do FI.. but even tho AA is local.. I'm not going to be buying even parts from them if they will not support their own customer who spent thousands of dollars in a reasonable manner.

What good is a 'certified' installer if it gets you crap? ATI should step in this type of situation and clean up their rep in regards to who they work with.

Help me understand. Why would anyone "now" put a Pro Charger on their Z? Unless you have big $$$, the Z is just a toy and you have a team of Lawyers on retainer.

If the vortech kit posts a good dyno sheet, then I think they'll
take most of the "thinking of ATI" buyers away. My reasoning is:

1. it comes with timing retard (seems all the other kits think it's
needed: stillen, vortech, etc).

2. supposedly doesn't need tuning.

3. it's intercooler plumbing doesn't enter and exit on the same
side so it's less cramped.

4. maybe quieter...

too late for me, but I do hope it works out for the rest of you guys
and gals...

Dont be to quick to bash ATI. There have been no other kits on the market as of yet. So the kit itself might not be to blame. Lets wait and see how the other kits fair in there first three months before making judgement. Many kits are out there and running fine.

You have a good point. ATI entered the market first so we see the good and the bad. As other products are released, they might experience problems too.

Hindsight is 20/20 thus my reason for waiting. I want to FI badly but I am forcing myself to play it safe. Worst case senario, all kits are blowing up motors and I am bummed that I cannot increase hp like I wanted to do. in that case, I go NA and get maybe 300rwhp with dependability.

Best case senario: I lose the use of a perfectl running FI kit for 6 months while others enjoy their Z with lot of hp. I install the kit with the best reliability record knowing what I am getting and driving without fear of destroying a new motor that would otherwise most likly go 200K miles.

I have to get pics of the radiator they put holes in too..
This blows me away. I considered having them do my install and even got a quote from Spencer on the kit. They made uncalled for fabrications, put holes in your radiator and poorly tuned your car causing $xxxx of damage and charged you $xxxx for this haircut. Wow, you are a better man than I. Is there a reason you have chosen not to sue?

If I was going to sue, you think I'm going to make a public announcement about it? Some things are better left not told, especially on the internet. You guys must think I'm some big time chump or something, thinking I'm all nice and sh*t, I just like to keep some stuff to myself about the situation. I don't know what a bunch of yelling and cursing on the internet proves to everyone, that's just not me Come see how I am in person, I guarantee you'll run the other way

Ravaz

Good luck on the car. Good luck with recovering the money you have invested in the SC.

Don't forget that a line in your signature will help others to decide if they are place to go to. Maybe a link to this thread would work. And it will be there every time you post.

If everyone that post on other boards spread the word how you were treated would help them do better in the future or maybe even fold. The internet is useful for other things than looking at **** Spread the word folks I think Ravaz has been more than fair about this.
