Default Engine Coolant Maintenance

I searched but could not find any answers so hear goes.
How often do you guys top off your engine coolant and what brand do you use? Any other helpful information about this topic would be greatly appreciated. 10x

Please tell me you are not topping off your engine coolant regularly.

If you are asking about doing a coolant flush, as routine maintenance per the FSM. I would just use 50% factory coolant, some Redline water wetter, and the rest distilled water.

That's just my personal preference.

I am not topping of my engine coolant regularly, I noticed when I got my car back from a recent new clutch install that my coolant was very low, below the minimum, the car is at 10K ( and this is the first time I topped it off), so i went to Auto Zone got some 50/50Coolant thats already premixed to top off what I have in the car. So I was just curious, if this is normal or if I need to get it checked out. Thanks.

Are you referring to topping off the radiator or the overflow tank?

Rarely. Its been awhile. I say every 10000 miles or so add a little but. I flushed my coolant myself at 60k. That's a full coolant flush but for now on, I plan to just drain and refill, not full flush every 30k (along with my other maintenance I do at 30k) so that I'll flush less (flushing is a pain to do as a DIY).

I think I did 40/60 mix on my 60k maintenance.

Why use water wetter when you are doing a 50/50 mix?

I used water wetter when I did a 30/70 coolant to water mix on my turbo eclipse. 50/50 mixtures, your wasting your money on water wetter. If you overheating at 50/50, you have bigger problems.

Is it really? I'm about to do it at 40k. From what I've read in the Haynes Manual for the Z, it looks pretty straight forward.

As far as I know you just drain it all, throw the flush solution in with water, run the hose through to get it all out, then refill.

I have 4 options of what I might be using to refill it:

1) straight 50/50 mix

2) 1 bottle of 50/50 and the rest with distilled water

3) straight distilled water

4) Any of the above options + Redline Water Wetter

I have 2 bottles of 50/50, tons of distilled water, and a bottle of Water Wetter handy, so any of those options are ready to go. What do you experienced guys reccomend? I'm doing a full flush now, but will be doing a drain and fill before winter also if I do with anything except option #1 because its below zero almost everyday where I live for the winter months now. That's not a problem though.

As far as Water Wetter goes, I've heard great things about significantly reducing temps, but also bad things about it gumming up passeges in the cooling system. I don't know whether to use it or not...

Around NYC there is a lot of stop and go traffic in 80-90-100 degree weather, so I want to try to get the most out of the cooling system without upgrading the radiator.

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks

No this car is not boosted, but my last one was TT and overheated all the time with the stock cooling system when sitting in traffic. I don't want that to happen to this one.

I top off the radiator weekly ha ha.. 50/50 mix is the way to go.

When I turn the car off on warm days, it pisses about 2ft out of the weephole in the APS overflow.

im using Evans NPG. Boiling point on this stuff is very very high making it ideal for F/I motors. Necessary, not at all really especially if you dont road race/track. Does it hurt, nope, I like the peace of mind.
