Default Powerlab install

How do you get the bumper brace to fit once you have installed the Intercooler?
Does your downpipe hit the driver side exhaust manifold?

The bumper bracer needs to be trimmed in order to fit the intercooler. Just the sides need to be cut back alil. No my downpipe does not hit the exhaust manifold. It's a tight fit but does not hit it.

You have to cut the brace or not run it. As far as the DP goes, once everything is tightend up it should be clear.

Thanks, How did you cut the bumper brace? Did you have to do alot of modification to it? I'm going to make a small L-shaped brace and mount it to the downpipe and the top nut of the exhaust flange to stop the rattle. I did not have the stock manifolds when I got the powerlab kit so I kept the strup headers that I already had installed on the car. This may be why I have the rattle.

yes.. you are probably the first installing PL kit with aftermarket headers, but it sounds like you are aware of this and resourceful enough to address it

I would like to see a close up pic of the toppipe as it crosses over the stock manifold to compair to fit. I have about 3/16 of an inch of clearance at the v-band and about the same at the manifold flange. It rattle on the flange at colder starts, hard shifts and down shifts. I had a extra exhaust hanger placed at the midpipe to relieve some of the load on the downpipe which stoped ~75 % of the rattle.

I was able to mount my bumper brace last night with very little mod to it. I just had to remove the towing mount. The brace would not fit with out hitting the intercooler and I didn't want to cut it up because it would have reduced the protective valve of the brace. So, I went to a local machine shop and got some square aluminum tubing ( 1'x1'x 1/8') and drilled holes for the new hareware to go through it. I mounted the alum bar between the bumper brace and the bumper monts on the frame of the car. It pulled the bumper brace off of the intercooler by 1/2' to 3/4'. I had to remove the towing mount because it hit the cover and I had to remove the foam insert because the brace now fills the space in the cover but the bumper went back on perfectly. Problem Solved plus I get some use from the top 1/3 of the intercooler because the brace is not slap up against it!

very lucky. Maybe my pipe was different..but there was no way around it. Usually you can wiggle the pipe and it will either hit the trans or the side of the manifold..my downpipe both both at all times..there was literally less than 3mm of space when it was touching one or the other.
