Injected Performance 3.9 stroker motor build
Hi guys, Haven't been on in awhile but thought I would bring everyone up to speed on our Z. Last year was a tough year for our car. Long story short we decided to do a big build for this year. Every part on the build will be brand new(bolts, heads, block, sprockets, covers, etc.) Eric( my parts mgr) has a great relationship with the guys at injected and it made sense to have them do this build for us. As the title says it will be a 3.9 stroker sleeved with BC and injected performance components. Our hope is to run 10.0-10.2 without nitrous at the same (19-21 pounds) or less boost. I will have Eric update with additional info if you guys are interested or if Hal or any of the injected crew sees this thread feel free to ad more info as the build progresses. Jason

If you plan on running any road courses or pushing it hard on the street, I would definitely recommend that you do the research and re-consider. Maybe Injected Performance can do a 3.8L or 4.0L non-sleeved motor for you. GTM has a 87 mm crank that will get you to 3.8L, and a 90 mm crank that will get you to 4.0L. For the 90mm crank, I think you need to machine the block a bit to get adequate clearence.
A lot of people have had problems with sleaved VQ motors. You might want to research the subject here in the forum. Also, it is my understanding that sleaved motors run hotter, which might not be a problem if you are only using the car to run 1/4 mi.

Bldrz, Good Luck with the 3.9L!

Thanks for the input from everyone. We did alot of research about sleeving the motor. That is why we chose injected. We were not comfortable with the machine shops installing the sleeves locally. As mentioned above when done correctly it should add strength and durability to our set-up. This car is primarily a drag car. Only street miles driven are when we take it to local shows. Thanks again for everyones comments, Jason

We have not experienced any sleeve failures on our VQs in street or race cars, and are very confident in our sleeved motor packages. If this was a 500hp road race car, I would reconsider sleeving - but for a high horsepower engine that needs to repeatedly and consistently output serious power... sleeving is absolutely advised. Boulder has selected proven top of the line components including our stage 3 stroker and race ported head package.
Thanks Boulder Nissan for choosing us to partner with on your build, we are really excited to see this one through!
