Has any one had a mechanical failure of the head unit from over spinning? Or just a loss of efficiency and extremely high intake temps? I can't seem to save a sig on here? I do not own a z but joined years ago when a friend did and ran upon this site again during a google search.

there have been lots of bearing/seal failures way after the defective ones had been replaced. my guess is more than a few of those were from overspinning.

I know that people in the mustang community have been overspinning these since the mid 90's. I have never heard of a mechical failure because of people overspinning. I know some people where over 11k at redline

if we had access to the ysi and other trim levels of blowers that spin to 60-65k, like stang owners, overspinning would be a moot point as well.

I almost went to a YSI instead of upgrading to the T but I was to poor.

Yeah i already contacted them. Even though it's better than a regular S it dosen't have the the CFM of the T. The Si upgrade is only 300. That's if you for go the the whole rebuild and do just to the impeller.

I had to have my recent T to s trim upgrade rebuilt a few week after the first upgrade.

Well it just showed up and it looks like brand new. In reality it is because none of it is my original S-trim. The T-trim volute and impeller is a couple months old and the rest is new now with the heavy duty seals and bearings. Even the casting is new and I got a fancy new plaque lol.

It turns easy this time and last time it was pretty stiff.

ya any impeller upgrade in a S-trim housing isnt as good as a T trim bc thats a physically bigger blower.

by the time you add that impeller and seals and bearings, you coulda bought a t-trim anyhow.

a 5L v8 and a YSI blower is sweet!

how much more horsepower can you expect with a T-trim...and more importantly, how much more psi does the the T-trim generate compared to the standard s-trim?

I'm already pushing it with a stock block and 2.87 ~12psi...when the engines goes I can go all out with a bigger blower/built motor...

and exactly what is this YSI blower..even better than a T-trim?

I perfer a 4.6l. I have the lowly sohc 2v. But the 4v's do well with the YSI.

,
The S-trim supports 725 bhp, the Si supports 775, the T-trim 825bhp. YSI = 1200bhp. The S-trim is getting phased out for the Si. Vortech has always underrated their head units.

Does anyone know why I can't make a sig? It just goes to a blank screen when I go to save or preview it?
