Default Need some help pls...

So a lil back story about my problem(s)

So roughly 3-4 months ago, I was driving to a meet when all of the sudden the car died, it wouldnt start, it was dead. Luckily a friend of mine (danny = green goblin), lives down the street from where the car died.

So we get to his house and plug it in to a code reader to see what codes it throwing. There were a few codes but the only one that concerned us was a U1000.

Info on U1000 - TSB
http://x.infinitihelp.com/forum/loca...N&pp=12&page=5

So we did everything the TSB said. We also noticed 4 of the coilpacks were melted, the throttle body was shot, the UTEC was also shot and the spark plugs were changed

After all this was done, the car ran fine but not under boost. It would run extremely lean, like 13.3 afr . So we figured it was a UTEC setting that was wrong

So fast forward to now, last night danny and I tried messing w/ the UTEC and we noticed the Parameter map was wrong, so we uploaded the base map from the turbo xs website and we made some minor changes to it

Now since the car had been sitting, the battery was dead, we tried charging it and its still wouldnt start, it would almost sound like it was bout to start but still needed more juice, so we waited a lil longer. After waiting another 15min, we decided the battery was shot, so we went to autozone and got a new battery

Now w/ the new battery, its still wouldnt start. but now we would just get a single click

So we plugged in the cipher to see the voltage the battery had, it was roughly 13.xx but as soon as we would try to start it, it would drop to 7.xx. Then we figured the new battery sat on the shelf for too long and it was low on charge, so we tried jumping it again and still nothing

any thoughts on whats going on?

Man Jose, sounds like you have some gremlins in there for sure.

My g35 had the same thing where it was throwing U1000 and burning up coil packs and it ended up being a bad ground on the car. I changed all the grounds and added a REALLY cool grounding kit and it actually fixed it.

Start with the grounds. First you probably need to replace the main fuse that is on the positive terminal on the battery. If you look at it , it is probably blown. That comes from trying to start it with a low battery.

Good luck!!

PS Tell Danny that i still have his moms panties

Only one correction, The map file is not the turboXS file, it is the orginal map that was backed up off your old utec, I took some screen captures of the parameter files, then setup this new utec accordingly, this is why the map was off. That solves that.

One though well the car has been sitting so maybe the motor is locked up? That is why it is clicking and the starter causes a big draw and that is why we are seeing a big dip in the voltage when trying to crank it over.

We did not try to push start it, I would have like to see if the motor would have at least tried to turn over.

Thats what we originaly did, danny will chime in soon since he did all of that part w/ the grounds

I also installed black bettys grounding kit and was hoping that would solve it, and prevent the u1000 from happening again

we did check the fuse but maybe it was dark out and we couldnt see it

dammit why did who had to move, you could have had the fun of chasing this electrical bug for me

I did not have a test light with me, but all the main fuse and relays appeared to me good (I know that is not set in stone) I did clean with a wire brush all the grounds that it described in the TSB.

Tibbs your mom goes to college.

if you are dropping to 7V, you have a serious ground problem or a short somewhere. double check all of that.

for the voltage to drop that much it would be like trying to shove watermelon sized current thru a straw.

could it be that the starter is shot and sucking all the power?

I agree, but do you think that would happen if the motor was siezed, not allowing the starter to turn the flywheel?

It sounds like the starter has bit the dust as you said it gives one click and thats it.

Jeepers, that's some bad luck, Jose...

If you think it seized, try draining the oil. Obviously if you see a lot of metal flakes that would be bad.

What kind of noise did it make when it died on the way to the meet? Did it feel like the engine was binding up, or did it feel like the electrical side just gave way and coast to the side of the road?

Might be worth a call to TurboXS...

Might be time to ditch the UTEC and go with an Osiris tune...

the reason for that is cause the Parameter file was wrong, and we tried starting the car w. just the oem ecu and still nothing

Mike that was next on my list to try to push start it, but It was late and I would rather have an extra set of hands to help push.

I'm having similar issues right now with my car. It all started two weeks ago and day by day it keeps getting worse.

Day 1:
Radio wouldn't turn on; had to replace a blown fuse

Day 2:
HKS EVC6 boost controller won't turn on

A few days later:
Car can't idle without shutting off.

Later that same say:
Car has a tough time starting. I hear the starter, but the car doesn't crank. Eventually it cranks after three tries.

Same day, after finally getting the Z to start:
Car wouldn't boost… f*ck…I drove the car home, parked it, tried starting it an hour later and now it doesn’t start at all… I hear the starter, but it's not catching the flywheel…

So basically at this point my HKS EVC6 doesn't turn on, the car doesn't boost, and now it won't even start...

WTF IS GOING ON!?

* OP, I don't mean to thread jack or anything. I just saw that you're having similar issues as me and needed to say something out of frustration.

I think I'll start another thread in a few.
