Default FI problems, help needed!!

hello everyone. just some info first off im running a stock block with powerlab 35r kit. about a week ago the car started having issues starting. it would take 3-4 cranks of the starter to get it to turn on. Now today it barely wants to start (about 5 sec worth of cranking) and when i get into boost it lags really bad, pretty much bogs down. as far as i know its not the fuel, and its only 8k boosted miles. plugs have only about 8k as well. running about 11.5 afr. any ideas on what it can be? i checked the piping and there doesnt seem to be any visible leaks? any words of advice will be greatly appreciated!!

Get the car to local tuner soon as possible. I see you from chicago, check out Soundsperformance. Also www.chicagoz.com

It is impossible to diagnose a car over the internet, especially with limited information.

+1 Check voltage. You don't want your voltage dropping - it can cut power to your fuel pump and cause issues under boost. As well as cause start-up issues.

If you don't feel comfortable diagnosing the vehicle, spend the extra $$ and tow it somewhere reputable. It will be worth it in the long run.

Good Luck.

on fi cars plugs can go beyond their usefull life relatively quickly (i.e. like 5000miles)...I'd start there, check codes....then basic diags as mentioned

sounds like a crank angle sensor from the starting issues, if the sensor is bad the car will try to start for a few times and then switch over to the camshaft sensors, and if bad it could be throwing off your timing

The starting issue could also be with the Utec, what size injectors are you running? Sometimes I have to crank mine over a bit if i've been running it for a while, thats because of my my Utec and 750cc injectors.

The lag though as mentioned above sounds electrical.

If your unsure.... TOW it, it will be cheaper then ruining something else, especially if it's something stupid.

not to be an *******..... but you had the 10k to turbo it and your not gonna spend few hundred to tow it and have it fixed correctly? I could understand if you absolutely needed the car but it doesnt sound like your DD.

Def was going to tow it with my truck and trailer, but still would rather trouble shoot. and after a couple weeks of trouble shooting found the problem! Doug was right, it was an electrical issue that kept the purge valve open and struggle through boost. thanks for all the help guys

Check battery like people have said. How old is it? What happens with old batteries is theyll read fully charged but i beleive its just a surface charge. So with the car off, itll read like 13.4 v which is what it should read with car running. It should read 12.7 or less with car off.
