Question Stillen SC review in Turbo Magazine

Has anyone read the article on the Stillen SC 350Z in Turbo Magazine (OCT 2003)? If so, what gains in 0-60 along w/ 1/4 miles did the Z get? How did they feel about the SC as a whole overall? I went to Turbomagazine.com yet that article was not availible to read. If anyone has info (or has the SC), please inform me. Thanks.

I haven't seen the Turbo mag article but Road & Track just did a write-up comparo tween the Stillen SMZ, Motorex (Cwest) Z, Brembo Z, Greddy Z. The numbers were interesting.

Stillen 5.3, 13.8@104.8
Greddy 5.2, 13.4@108.1
Brembo 5.6, 14.2@100.8
Motorex 5.1, 13.7@104.6
Stock 5.8, 14.4@99.7

The Motorex car was naturally aspirated with JWT camshafts, lightweight flywheel, and popcharger. Estimated power output was 350hp with stock exhaust. This car also had the best skidpad numbers at .94g (tanabe suspension with 275/35/18 Front Toyo T1-S and 295/35/18) and the best braking distance at 113 ft from 60mph with NON-BREMBO stock brakes (though fading was a problem with hard driving).

Brembo was closest to stock with custom HKS exhaust as the only listed performance add-on.

Sidenote, the Greddy car wasn't part of the 2 day canyon run which included the testing numbers. The testing was done separately, i have the feeling this was due to the problems we have all heard about with the car.

I read the R&T article yesterday, and I was pretty suprised they tested such *blah* 350Zs. Hell, even on this board there are more inspiring cars. Guess the fact that not all of us have bling body kits eliminates us from the contest...

Jeez, I wonder how much HP those JWT cams make.

This seems like a flawed accelleration test. I can say with almost complete certainty that they were not launching any of these cars very hard.

Yeah....I think these tests were VERY FLAWED!!! When Motor Trend tested out the Greddy TT, they got a 4.7 0-60 and a 12.79 1/4 mile. So I definitely think they messed up somewhere. Motor Trend just tested out the Stillen G35 SC and they got a 0.8 increase in the 0-60mph and they got a 0.7 increase in the 1/4 mile. So if there is definitely something wrong with Road and Track because there is no way they got a 0.2 increase in the 0-60 and a .3-4 increase in 1/4 mile!!!

Road and Track's numbers are always slow. Is it their altitude?

Remember too that the G35 that Motor Trend - if I remember - is an automatic, not a stick. This will affect the launch.

All those numbers Suck ***!!! SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!! and the best they can get is a 13.4, 12.7 is at least respectable but for that much $$$$ we should be spanking everything on the road!!

Probably because road & Track refuses to power shift. I read somewhere in the back with their performance numbers that they don't power shift, and that would hurt the acceleration times of many manual cars.
