Default Questions about going single

I tryed searching for hours but I still couldnt find anything, so im sorry if this has been covered. Im new to the forced induction scene and kinda of new to the Z scene. I have been resarching how turbos work and what components I need to piece my kit together. I feel im starting to gain enough knowledge about it that I can start piecing my kit togther. I read on here that going twin turbo on the HR motor is the only option for forced induction. But I am wondering how true that is? Would it be possible for me to piece together a single turbo kit maybe using a single turbo manifold(s) from a DE and using it to piece together my kit? Or because of the dual intakes it makes it only possible to go TT?

you can do a single. you are using your stock manifolds, so that doesnt matter. you;d just need to use a single in dual out intercooler.

most any shop with a pipe bender could build you a single kit pretty easily in a few days.

Thanks Thats what I was kinda thinking, but I wasnt to sure. I am assuming that the DE single turbo manifolds fit on the DE motor, am i right? I read the stock injectors are 290cc, would I be able to run stock fuel on low boost? If so how much boost can I run or Hp can I make on them before needing to upgrade? Or would is it crucial that I upgrade injectors and my fuel pump?

The answer is Yes. The stock injectors need to be upgraded if you go FI. Sure you can get an FMU or something but don't cut any corners when it comes to fuel. You will also need a Walboro 255 Fuel Pump and do the fuel pump basket modification. Just search for "fuel pump basket mod". Phunk did a great DIY on this.

So would you guys think it is better to piece my kit together or to just buy a complete TT kit. Either way I go I know that it will be expensive, but also I would like to save money so I am just trying to get everything planned out.. my goal is to start beginning next year so all input would be well appreciated.

^^ considering there aren't any single turbo kits out to my knowledge for HR's i would really think about purchasing a tt kit for it.. honestly its not going to be cheap. and you don't have to hassle with making sure a kit you make yourself fits correctly. just my 2cents

By the time you end up getting a shop to fab you a single turbo system up you probably have spent just about as much if not more than what you would have had you just gone twins in the beginning. I love my single turbo DE but unless your pockets are deep i would just buy a kit that is made for the motor.
