Default Vortech kits compatibility

This might as well be added to the other thread "Vortech FAQ" if we can gather up as much info as possible.

since there are alot of Vortech kits out there, I simply would like to categorize which kit will work on which year model/engine/tranny.

I've emailed Vortech recently, but never heard back from them..

i'm in the market for the full kit, yet i'm not sure if those for sale used kit would work fine on my car.

soo, if you have bought a used kit, provide us with the following info:

From

-Car / model / year
-5AT or 6MT
-rev-up or non-rev
-full kit or tuner kit
-part number (if available)

To

-Car / model / year
-5AT or 6MT
-rev-up or non-rev
-any modification to make the kit work?

thnx

All the info is readily available on the Vortech site and the Vortech FAQ (if you muster the strength to go through 625 plus posts). As far as buying a used kit, do you mean one that has all the parts? FAIL on my part if I'm not really understanding your post. Or are you talking about having a Vortech roll call?

LOL...I'm lost. Sorry....

AFAIK, there are only two types of vortech kits with two variations - revup kits versus non-revup kits, and engine oil fed blowers versus non-engine oil fed blowers.

non-revup: 03-07 5ATs
revups: 05+ 6MTs (someone with a Z please verify that this is the same for your cars)

the newer blowers (V3) do not use the engine's oil. the older blowers (V2) use the engine's oil.

it's alright...

i've been through Vortech FAQ several times (because i like to learn what i'm getting into), and kits compatibility isn't mentioned anywhere, even tho there are guys that asks about if this kit will fit that car and etc, but they weren't answered.

i've been asking the same question, and couldn't get a straight answer.

visit the Classified section of Turbos and Superchargers.. you'll see some posts in some of the threads asking if this kit will fit that car, and that's not the right place to ask in if you know what i mean.

Vortech site doesn't have it all.. and superchargersonline .com is the same.. they have different part numbers for different years and different engines. that's why it's all confusing.

Thanks for the input..

AFAIK, 03-04 Zs came with non-rev engines, 05-06 came with both rev-up (6MT) and non-rev (5AT), and i'm not aware 07-08...

so, the question is....

will a 03-04 (6MT) kit work on 05-06 (5AT) non-rev ??

yes, both are non-rev which both would require a non-rev kit.

pretty much just match the engine to the s/c kit. year and model isn't needed. If you know your car has a non-rev then buy a non-rev kit.

picture attached shows a non-rev. Look at the timing covers (top right and left on engine). non-revs look like that and rev-up look quite a bit different.

exactly the same. I think vortech might list a different part number but the vortech on my car came off of a 350z and it bolted right up with no problems. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is supposed to be but it appeared there was no difference. The manual is even for both g35 and 350z. My SS box (engine management) even has a 350z sticker on it.

Yes there is no difference on non-rev up kits except the air filter, I put a 350z s/c on my G sedan and the only thing that wouldn't work was the air filter but the part # was listed in the instructions so it was as easy as ordering the right part#. I hope this helps and I bought my kit used as well and I was worried about that too, so rest a sure it will fit.

ah, that might be why i never noticed. I didn't have the original vortech filter. I have a k&n filter that is the same model but without the hole for crankcase breather.

It is tight there on my sedan especially with my big rad I had to have the offset one from vortech, I just got a tiny k&n for the breather.
