Default HKS GT SC Help

I bought a used HKS GT SC and have Two questions on the Oil lines.

1. On the SC itself. Which line is the Oil input side. I have marked what I think to be the correct way.

2. If the above is correct, then is this the correct routing for the oil cooling lines?

I have been trying to get some instructions, but have had no luck. So if anyone has the answer to this above questions thank you. Also if anyone has instructions for this kit PM me. I would like to get a copy.

Thanks,

C

If the SC itself is the pump, then I don't think it really matters since it'll circulate no matter how you put it...that's how I see it anyways.

I understand what your saying, but the SC was designed to flow oil in one direction just like turbos and other SC do.
As with all Pumps. One side is In and one side is Out. That's what I am trying to find on the HKS unit.

Thanks tylerxfire. I have been searching and did find something on the Rotrex Units, but not the HKS unit as of yet.

The difference between the turbo and the SC is that the turbo's oil supply is being DRIVEN by the engine and not the turbo it's self and plugging in the oil lines backwards will cause the fluid INSIDE the turbo to flow backwards.

If the SC is indeed the pump then it really shouldn't matter because no matter what direction it flows the cooler will still cool the fluid and the SC will still expell hot fluid through the correct nozzle and recieve cool fluid through the correct nozzle. You'll reverse the flow on the cooling system, but the flow inside the SC will only go one way. This is, of course, IF the SC is it's own pump.

I really can't see anything that could possibly go wrong but don't get me wrong, I'd still try to find some definite info. You're diagram looks about right.

Hey cdoxp800, you got the flow and the plumbing wrong. As per the instructions, the oil in the reservoir flows from the bottom of the tank to the angled fitting on the SC. It then flows out of the SC through the straight fitting to the bottom of the cooler. It gets cooled and flows out of the cooler from the top and into the reservoir through the top of the tank.

The line that runs from the reservoir to the SC inlet has an inline oil filter. If I remember correctly, there is a sticker showing the flow through the filter. If you don't have the sticker, the filter is wider at one end vs the other. The oil will run from the tank through the wider portion of the filter and out the smaller end and into the SC.

The SC is its own oil pump, so there is a specific flow to follow. I guess it doesn't really matter which way it flows through the cooler and back into the top of the tank, but you gotta make sure to hook up the line with the filter in it the right way into the SC. Since your kit is used, the lines may have been already cut to size and you may have less slack to play around with.

I will hook you up with some pics from the instructions tomorrow.

Also the way that the inlet and outlet are designed on the SC must tell something about which is the correct way to hook it up. The way the one is bent suggests that when the supercharger is placed in it's installed position on the car, the bent one will orientate the oil line in the least awkward manner possible. Just a quick thought, but if you line everything up see what "feels" the best. Also have you pm'd ITOzann cause he just installed an HKS SC too. Same with another guy from about two months back. Cheers, good luck

The diagram doesn't seem right. Attached is the rotrex diagram and that's how I did it after I double checked with the hks dealer in my area to see if it's right. PLEASE DON"T FORGET TO PUT THE OIL FILTER BETWEEN THE OIL TANK AND THE S/C UNIT.

Let me get to a scanner and I will send you the files. In the mean time, if you look in another 350z forum (www.*********.com) you will find an older version of the instructions. I've quickly compared both and they are pretty much the same. Few missing diagrams here and there, and collars being called spacers instead on the old instructions.

In any case I will get you these new ones.

^ that is right. I always wonder why the lines fights gravity

I used the following installation manual, and made it an easy install just need a tune
