Default Hal’s street car sets 6speed 350Z record at 9.34, VIDEO

After an unusually snowy winter I was happy to wash my 350Z yesterday and head to the drag strip for a local annual shootout. I have only run once before on these tires, and it yielded a 9.8 last year. The only change to the car was a new set of wheels, but still using the same 27” DOT tires from last year.

The day was bitter sweet… I lost in the first round of eliminations due to my first-ever redlight, but on the same pass ran a record 9.34 @ 145mph.

A HUGE thank you to all of the guys here at Injected Performance for all of your help. This couldn't have happened without you! It feels good to have both 6speed and auto 350Z records in house! SP, time to get back out there and give me a reason to turn it up!

Details on the setup are below.

it's certainly great to see a rarity like this, a VQ doing under 10's in the 1/4 mile, car looks great and thanks for sharing!

and WOW, no roll cage ?! and they let you hit 9 second runs !!?? that's a chill drag strip then, our local strip lame as hell... a roll cage is an absolute necessity if you're hitting anything below 11 seconds

Thanks everyone.

Adon- It isn't that hard to sneak a car by tech and the officials, but I don't recommend the no-cage thing to anyone. This car is setup for me to drive on the street, and my original intentions were to not track the car - thus the lack of a cage. The interior is all stock (I don't even have any gauges), and I love the nice-fitting black leather interior all too much to cut up and cage around. I'm content with my 9.3, and will put my street wheels/tires back on now

Do the front wheels/skinnies clear Brembos? Could you share the front tire size?

Approx how much power?

You launched that car soooo smooth great driving Hal, very impressive!

Hal, Congrats. Who beat you off the tree again? Oh yea, an 82 year old man ...I give him credit, the 82 year old man cuts the lowest reaction times I have seen in a while.

Alberto,

I am not sure if the fronts will clear brembos. I haven't had a car to test fit them on. I know they will clear a Stoptech 13" front bbk diameter, but you would need to run a small spacer to clear the caliper. The wheels that Hal "borrowed" off my drag car, is a new setup I was testing out and from his suspension, brakes, etc they clear everything perfectly. I think the fronts sit in a just a little too much for my taste, but with a 1/2" spacer you would still be inside the fenders.
