Default Crankshaft questions

Hey guys,

I received my crankshaft that I bought secondhand to replace my damaged crankshaft.

First thing I noticed was that the numbers are different. My own damaged one has 70-2 on it and this replacement has 25-1 on it. They look identical so this is nothing to worry about right?

Now I want to send it off for polishing. Should I ask for specific measurements? I want to use ACL racebearings..

Thnx

My understanding i s that after the crank is polished it will be measured along with the block and the correct size bearings would be ordered to ensure proper fitment.

I cannot help with your question on the crank markings.

alot of times those number are a date of casting, a code for the date of casting, or were it was casted. I wouldn't worry about it if the main and rod journals measure out the same.

Buy yourself a Micrometer set that measures down to .0001 and measure all the journals. That will eliminate all the guess work on which crank and bearings you need.

I too bought a used crank, I had it micro-polished and then measured the journals. They were exactly the same size as the fsm even down to the .0001.
