Default Spark plugs?

What plugs do you guys run? And gap?

I'm running GReddy TT kit, RC 750s, 11lbs of boost daily, and my car tends to run like crap quite often. It needs to be re-tuned, but I'm thinking my spark plugs may be some of the issue.

Car tends to run rich quite often and has hiccups when cruising sometimes. My friend says he had a car that had that issue, and when he changed the plugs, the hiccups went away...

Soooo yeah, any advice would be great. I know it's a pretty basic thing, but hoping someone has some good insight.

For your setup, I would recommend NGK 1 step colder plugs, available here. Gap to .035.

Given your problems of running rich and having hiccups... changing the plugs may immediately make it run better, but if it is running rich then the problem will return. I would advise getting new plugs and having your tune fixed as a permanent solution.

^ from what we have found that is the most affordable option for TT HR guys... the 370 factory plugs are 1 step colder than the HR motor

im runnin 1 step colder plugs as well and i had SLIGHT hiccups but that was due to tune... plugs r awesome

I was just wondering when should I change the plugs? Running 8lbs of boost.. Normally i know back in NA plugs would last awhile but how about with FI? I've read that you shouldn't run plugs beyond 10k miles on an FI car. (sorry for the thread hijack op)

I got 1 step colder plugs ngk vpower's (22 bucks shipped), at 15psi + meth + occasional spray. Recently had to change them out because I was getting some misfires. I had about 7k on them. Plugs look fine, no pepper or melting going on, but I think they got too much fuel so I might change them every 7-10k from now on, its my first plug change for this motor.

so at what boost/power levels is it a must to go to 2 steps colder?

hal? you'll be tuning this beast in aug so what's your input. We're shooting for the 600hp on your dyno and i'm 1 step colder, should i go to 2 steps colder or leave it be?

I'd be more interested in what EMS you're running... Get your tune checked, Osiris and new plugs will fix it

1 step colder plugs here, and made 801rwhp....off top of my head I want to say gap is in the .028 range (can't remember right now though).

1 step colder will likely be the best fit for you. We can pull a plug on the dyno and check though.

You have a highly modded engine, so like Hal said until he pulls the plugs and looks for pre-igintion, you might still need the 2 step colder iridiums.

ya, i got my coppers for 6$ a piece which i don't think is bad.

So do i need to bring 2 sets of plugs with me to the dyno?? I was going to replace them before i go back, so i was hoping to just have new ones in adn that be it. Sucks to blow 40$ on plugs i'm not going to use.

Thinking about switching to coppers from the iridiums...what's the typical life of a copper in FI?

And, is it advisable to replace sparkplugs after breaking in a fresh new built engine?

copper is 6-10,000 miles. so once or twice per year...

if your break-in tune wasnt overly rich/lean (as enough to foul or burn up the plugs), then you shouldnt have to change them
