Default My TT g35 project thread

I realized made a few threads which cannot be deleted so I am making one general thread for my current project. sorry for the other threads. Hopefully I will be able to get some knowledgable help from the guys here.

I have some FI experience with other cars such as 88' turbo mx-6, 97 s/c maxima, and a procharger previously on my g35 but am by no means an expert on FI let alone the VQ so any help is appreciated.

I dont plan to track the car. Just daily drive it and want a little more power once in a while. I very rarely even go over the speed limit.

also I DO NOT plan to go past 6-7 psi or 400whp. My goal is 350 to a max of 400 whp.

I think I have almost collected all the parts necessary to start my tt kit install. though I will need to buy one replacement turbo since one of the turbos with my kit is incorrect(part of the deal since the kit was a great deal)

03' g35 IP coupe 5at 50k miles

Current suspension/body mods:
tein basics
richie v2 fstb
stillen sways
spc front/rear camber arms and toe bolts
rotora 6/4 14" bbk
cf full ionic lip kit and TS hood
AME FS-01 18x10 all around in dark bronze

My current engine mods which I will leave on:
MD 5/16 spacer
1 step colder plugs(from previous s/c)
VB mod
trans oil cooler
Greddy EVO TT exhaust

Here is the parts list so far:

350z JWT 700BB turbo kit -brand new but missing 1 correct turbo.
440cc injectors
walbro 255lph fuel pump
Cobb accessport (thats what my tuner uses)
Greddy Profec E-01 boost controller/gauge
apexi turbo timer

Shopping list:
Oil temp/coolant temp/egt gauges
possibly hks ssqv
new gt2554r turbo

Also I am debating on cooling system mods. I tried doing some searches but couldnt find anything that answers the question to my needs.

I dont plan to race/track the car and rarely speed however the car may be in 80-90 degree weather during the summertime.

Would it be necessary to upgrade cooling components and how far do I need to go?

debating on bigger radiator, samco hoses, oil cooler kit possibly once funds permit. If itll be necessary for my needs.

As previously noted i already have a trans oil cooler installed.

Do I need all these or would one or the other be sufficient?

I know oil temps can go up a lot due to the turbos so thatd seem like the highest priority out of the 2. is the larger radiator necessary if not tracking/racing?

Also is there anything that I am missing thatd be essential?

Thanks in advance for info/help. This should be a fun small project(compared to others builds).

-stay away from mishimoto fans
-lower degree thermostats cost more $ than the oem one. example: Nismo~118, oem replacement~20 bucks. You decide
-Im running a mishimoto radiator w/ trans cooler and I dont have a problem w/ either one. Temps around 100+ outside.
-Im also a fan of the hks ssqv (I love thy sound) but im curious about the newer version that came out.
-Its argueable whether or not to change hoses, I did because of the bling. I didnt feel like messing w/ collapsed or torn hoses if it were to happen

I dont track my car either, I just wanted a bit more power. I didnt want a car over 400 hp, Im happy with my set-up and intend to keep it the way it is.

Im adding the oil cooler next year. I live in the DC area and my car is garage kept in Arkansas. Its not a daily driver, so that can wait. My oil looks fine whenever I change it.

perhaps it is not a huge rush then and I can run as is for a while and add the oil cooler and new radiator later when budget permits. I have the trans cooler which is pretty much a necessity on 5at with more power

If the weather in HI is 80-90 degree during the summer I would not change the radiator, unless it goes bad. The oil cooler is debatable...

i live in HI right now but plan to move to iowa soon and eventually settle in the seattle area. Agreed I think an oil cooler will do the job for now.

barnabas: how much boost u running on the jwt?

They didnt put out enough cfm, take it from me and the other guys at the issues wiring the mishimoto fans:
https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...ator-fans.html
I ended up hookin my pop's chevy lumina w/the fans and went back to my oem ones.
Most of the guys were replacing one fan w/a 14in spal

No one ever replied to my questions. If the dual 12' setup couldnt keep my car cool I doubt the aftermarket fan controller would make a difference. All it does is turn the fans on sooner right?

The issue couldnt be solved w/the dual setup+ fan controller (theory)
The fans werent large enough to keep the engine cool at 100+ weather(Hypothesis)
Stick with oem(Solution)

good stuff man^^^keep us informed. Its good that your doing your research on things instead of dishing out on products that have little or no significance.

I might be getting rid of my Stillen VB upgrade within the nxt year and going with transgo instead. There's a guy named superchargedg that had stillenvb and said that transgo pwns!!! Although its unclear who offers the upgrade??? I would rather buy one built than doing it myself.

yea i have the transgo with b&m trans cooler. GTM sells the transgo upgrade. or you can buy the kit from them and have a local shop install it like i had done. even with my minor bolt on mods as is if i floor it while leaving it in auto mode it chirps 2nd and 3rd gear.

That would be me and i never owned a stillen vb upgrade but just drove one and the transgo just destroys the stillen esp if your FI.

yea when i was doing research ont he vbmod i read that the stillen wasnt that great and also had a lot of issues. I just bought the transgo kit from gtm and had it installed by a local shop. probably the most worthwhile mod ive done on it so far. really made shifting MUCH better for the auto.
