LOL... well so far the point of this thread people think the extra 70whp is worth the cost/effort?
Guys me being from the UK drag racing and 1/4,trap speed etc really dont mean that much to me! lol. The stock nissan GT-R can run 11's and trap about 118-120mph in the 1/4. How would my car with only 450whp (about 480-490 flywheel bhp) and a 200kg lighter than the GT-R do in a roll race from say 40mph-140mph??
I know this is "internet racing" and all that **** but I have not got my car back yet and Im just exited to see what sort of performance the car will have at this lower than expected power level.

Again without you giving us a baseline we cant even begin to know if you can drive or not. Everyone thnks they can drive, even from a roll people feel the driver equation isnt huge, but I promise you it is, especially against a car that shifts like the GTR. Without any times from you, and with the bench racing mentality you have, Id put money on the GTR.
As far as bench racing that's all I can do untill I get my car back and find some decent ( GT-R's, lambo's etc) to run! Not many people here in the Uk roll race so chances of me getting a good run against some one is slim to none! Lol.
It would just be nice to know if I do bully a gallardo or GT-R into a little fun I can hold my own and not get *** raped! :-)
poor or not, that's what the typical Z owner traps. So should be trapping and actually do trap are 2 totally differnt things. Trap speed is much less a function of driver ability. Briguymax is a perfect example. Great ET, average trap.
Look at the top 25 TT times.
I dont think any of those guys at 129+ is running 520whp. they are all much closer to 600+

There are plenty of greddy's on there with decent 60's no where near 125mph. Where do you see 450whp TT Z's trapping 123-124? All I see is maybe 118

125mph traps are pretty poor for a 550whp z. such a car should be trapping 130mph on a clean run.
450whp z (assuming turbo and not some ******** centrifugal SC powerband here) should be trapping around 123-124 maybe 125. 520whp will have you trapping more like 128-129 assuming most other things stay equal such as your redline, powerband same just raised up, etc.
edit: the assessment above assumes you can drive.

I can count the good drag racers in this community that post on the forums with one hand, its sad.
OP-with 500-520whp you should have no issues with M6, Gallardo, 911 turbos, F430's, only with Diablos, Ford Gt's and the upper echelon of supercars that can trap mid 120's but are also geared and designed to travel to high speeds where they will continue pulling. 450whp wont be as quick in a group of cars mentioned.

It's only a matter of time before Nissan ditches the normal 3 pedal 6speed, with a dual clutch transmission. Game over.
Good drag racers are a dieing breed. With all the new DCT's, computers, launch control, and such, it's taken a lot of the guesswork and skill out of drag racing.

Alberto you are probably right, compared to other platforms there are not many good VQ drag racers, and the ones on here come from racing supras.
But also, some of us get 1 pass and then are tossed because we dont wanna cage our cars. doesnt help getting much practice.

str8-I hear ya on that second part man. Its the main reason I havent run since motherfawking 07'. Its hard to get motivated to drive to a track, take the slicks, tools, axles, etc just to hook once and try to stay in it knowing you will get kicked out.

BriGuyMax trapped 121-122 with 430whp, 124-125 with 470, and 128-129 with 520whp when we were at the track this spring, with a really bad bog off the line.
SH Luciano trapped 121 with 430whp.
My point being that those trap speeds may not be the norm (obviously they are not since on average, people are average drivers lol), but they are what the cars should be capable of when properly driven.

Mark from abbey motorsport has tuned the car. I got an email off him last night saying the car made 469whp and 448 torque, so a little better than the 450whp we had the day before.
If 470whp will get me to GT-R, 911 turbo beating performance then ill stay with that for 6 months while I real lear how to drive the car and then next year with new actuators + water/meth up the boost to 16-17psi and go for 550whp?
Sound like a nice plan.
Also guys im only running on a JWT clutch which is not then end of the world as Im not a drag racing fan so it wont have to deal with alot of heavy standing starts just changing quick while moving.

I'm headed to the track next weekend with the Z for the first time with the new setup. Im nervous to see how I run & nervous that something may break ha, but guess thats what happens when you do what we do. Hoping for the setup to hit mid to high 130's, all really depending on how good I drive.
