Smile The difference between 450whp and 520whp???

Guys please dont tell me 70whp!!! lol..

My car has been on the dyno today and made 450whp @ 0.8 bar. The tuner could not get the boost any higher even using the boost controller.

The stock APS actuators seam a little soft for the 1.2bar we were aiming for.

Im looking into upgrading to forge motorsport actuators and adding a water injection kit then retuning for 1.2 bar. this "should" get me to 500+ whp.

You guys that are driving FI zed's Is the a huge difference on the road between a 450whp zed and one runing just over 500whp?

I know the car will still be quick but will 450whp have the neck pulling power that the car would have at 500+??

Jus wanted some opinions of people who have driven zeds at these power levels.

Or is the difference just more wheel spin! lol..

450hp 350z vs 520hp 350z. Outcome-520hp 350z broke loose lost control and hit a tree. 450hp 350z missed 3rd watched the accident and slowed down. Whos the real Winner?

I hope they weren't street racing, otherwise they're both the losers

Depending on what the car is gonna be used for, usually its the difference between usable and unusable power, as 9 out of 10 morons don't realize the traction issues, expensive wheel and tire sizes they will need just to fight to keep the car in control...

very much like how black explained in post#2.....

All things being equal........Making it a car vs car race from 60mph......you will get smoked by that extra 70whp.

Where in the powerband does the power Hit? I make 465 whp DD and can not get traction in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd (on cold days) with 305 street tires and 0 camber. I hit full boost by 3200 rpms and the tires start spinning in the lower gears. As far as 70 whp, it is day and night if you can put it on the ground.

I lol @ the guys who spend $$$ on powerful setups and dont spend $$$ on alignments, correct final drives or correct tires then complain of wheelspin. These are the same guys who run 12.8 @ 114mph with 500whp and wonder WTF happened.

OP-the difference is huge. Think of the TORQUE you are missing out on as well thats just as, if not more important. The TQ is the reason my mid and high boost boogies, not so much the top end.

Nobody should have an issue putting down 600whp on street tires (not DR's or R comounds) with proper aligment in warm weather.

I agree, 500whp and running 12.8 is a shame.

Yes, too many people focus on the peak hp and not the torque or overall powerband.

I have no problems putting down the power with my 18" DR's but it's a b#$%h to drive on DRs up here in Western NC when the weather changes by the hour.

Why cant you hook up 465hp on anything other than DR's?

Guys what I wanted to find out in this thread is if the 70whp gain I may get from from high boost map with water injection was worth the pain in the *** actuator install and cost to fit and map.

The power curve I can only assume would be what I have now for spool but keep going to a higher final boost setting. I'm not sure what sort of torque gain I would see. I can only assume 50-70 lb/ft?

look at it this, NA bust a nut for more 15whp, your talking almost 5x that just by changing out the actuators and a tune.

that's correct. your power curve wont change during spool up.

if you are making peak trq currently before 5252 rpms, you'll make more than 70 ft-lbs, and obviously if peak trq comes after 5252 rpms, you wont make as much.

Like was alluded to, that might be enough to blow your tires off, so you'll need new tires, alignment, rear cambers arms etc etc etc....

Of course we are all going to say you should do it. but if you have to pay for someone to do all the labor, then i wouldnt fuss with it.
