it's very common. We actually work with a local shop to make us an AC line to fix this anytime we install a TN kit which we try to avoid for most builds, anyway.

I had a custom line built after I fried two from turbonetics. It has a hard line near where the high heat areas are. Never had an issue with ac again. Now if only we could get past the turbo oil seal issues...

the turbonetics turbo's are garbage and almost always have issues with the seals going in the turbo and causing blow by issues..These kits also have issues with the different pipes cracking..i had a wastegate pipe crack and it is a common thing..it will in return cause overboosting and is known to pop a few motors..it is an extremely outdated kit now and the worst kit you could have on a z at this time besides a weak *** stillen but at least thats a reliable kit...

Ok. I did read that while searching for more info on the TN kit. It was attractive since used kits have become so cheap, and I'm looking for a way to add power to my track car on a budget. It doesn't seem like the TN kit is the way to go though. Thanks for the info.

It really depends on the price you get the kit for. I got an awesome deal on my TN kit with a GTK 650. I'm gonna change out the turbo because of the seals going but other then that is been a good kit

You should check out Boosted Performance or Momentum kits, both good kits, reasonably priced with great customer service

$4600+ and $7600 respectively - quite a bit more, of course, than the used ~$2500 TN kits I was looking at. Maybe I'll give BP a yell, but I'll probably continue look for a cheaper (used) solution. Maybe even a used SC kit, which I know they're out there. I've driven a SC'd Z on the track and it was great fun and predictable like NA since the TQ is relatively low. We had heat management issues though with respect to oil, and it has an oil cooler. Temps hit 250F after about 5 hard laps. . . ambient temp was only 70F.

You have to consider that the Momentum kit comes with everything you need, EMS, Tune, Fuel system, etc. If your really considering a TN kit you should research more around here. All the problems not only to do with the kit but the high AITs that will blow that stock block in no time. Some people have good luck with modifying that kit, but IMHO you get what you pay for and i would look into one of the 2 i listed or a Vortech.

I have alot off updated pipes for the TN kit from Threadstone. Most of the redsigned pipes all have flex sections now to avoid all the old cracking issues..also they seem a little better quality and are a little larger in diameter.

Everyone talks smack about the TN kit...mine made 412/400 at 7.5lbs....and the same on a different dyno. Hell even at 4.5lbs spring pressure I made around 345/330Tq. The car pulls like a raped ape! Im just having some issues now with MAF cutout and some bad o2 sensors that have over 117,000 miles on them. I do have a 3inch straightpipe for an exhaust...so that might be making some extra power compared to a regular system.

No one ever said the TN can't make power, it's just an out dated kit that has A LOT of issues.

I can't believe there's a thread in 2011 with more then 1 person defending the kit.

I've had the TN kit on my car since Feb 2009. Would I buy the kit brand new. No. However for 2500 bucks thats not a bad price for 350-400hp. Hell in my custom TN setup I have only 120 bucks invested and that was to fix the tab that broke on my charge pipe

I paid 3000 for mine with mostly all new piping. I consider that a deal for the power im making. Turbo kits are way overpriced to begin with. I would never pay full price for any of them.

Says the guy who runs a turbonetics kit and has the blown A/C line.

As far as being over priced goes, $3000 for a used turbonetic kit is rape.
