it doesnt have to be very tight... the way i used to do it was.. I would just hold the pulley down with one hand and then tighten it.. DO NOT force the pulley to go all the way down, itll be way too tight... you dont want it rock solid.. you want it to have some play

I was breaking them because I had it on too loose. I guess tight or loose is a relative term. Make it tight but not as tight at the serpentine belt.

Also, you better be protecting all the wires around that cog belt with extra loom or you will cut a wire and short out your ecu.

You want 1/2 inch of play in the Cog belt when the car is completely cold. When the car is Hot, after driving, it will take out most of the play, but should still have some play, But Never Tight like a guitar string. There are other conditions that can cause a belt to break. I have over 40,000 miles with the Vortech and Never had a belt problem.

it a little werd cos it moves to one side here is a pic of it. as u can se the upper pulley has the belt at the center, and the other have it at the border, thats way it bursts the belts. when i replace it, i put it in the center in both pulleys i dont know why it moves.

That's normal, just as long as it doesn't hang over the edge. If it does add or remove a washer on you idler pulley. After looking closely you maght have some of your belt hanging over. You need to get that idler pulley to shift in some so it pulls that belt back on that lower cog belt. Use the shim/washer method I stated above.

Also run a straight edge to make sure your bracket hasn't flexed. Very rare on a Vortech for that to happen though if ever.

i'm with you on that, just looking at the pic here the belt looks straight, but the bracket may be off a bit, i would try and put some washers or some thing on the bracket mouting bolts to see if you can get it mounted flush and get everything to line up right.

if the belt isnt hanging over any i wouldnt worry about it..it is normal to go to the edge of the pulley...like stated above with it cold and if its a brand new belt hold down with one hand pushing down and tighten..i would go a little tight because the belt will stretch a little but thats just me..i never had a problem breaking belts..if its too loose most likely will get a little squeak

I did a DIY on this, if you search under "how to protect your cam sensor" it should bring it up. I will post the link here when I get home.

It is protecting the plastic plug and wire that plugs into your cam sensor. It's actually an oil control valve but often referred to as the cam sensor on this forum. If this wire is cut by a shredded belt and grounds out on anything metal (which it will most likely do) it will often fry your ECU. I'm looking into becoming a vendor on here and I may make a batch of these guards along with more detailed instructions on how to install one. Not sure of the cost of becoming a vendor and all so if there is a lot of interest I may move forward with this.
