Exactly. I would also look for chipped, dented and otherwise damaged timing teeth. That can also make a difference.

i don't know why i only noticed this now. i started my car today and noticed the oil pressure was at 10 psi, only a third of the way to the second line on the gauge. This is at cold start and at around 1200 rpms. this is on the stock gauge but if i remember correctly the minimum pressure is halfway, around 15 psi at idle. i gave it some gas and no difference in pressure.

So i was thinking that the insufficient pressure is causing my intake valve timing control solenoid to fault. would this be a reasonable assumption? i know there's two ivtc solenoids on both heads but MAYBE the pressure is just enough for one side? idk im just trying to think of anything that could fix my car.

I know the best option would be to get a new sending unit. which is what im going to do tomorrow. But if anyone has any other suggestions please chime in.

The gauge should fluctuate somewhat, when throttle is given.

Never seen this thread before today, but with you checking all the basics as seen on the first thread I was thinking something mechanical. Try a new sending unit. If it doesnt change then something mechanically is wrong.

Also I havent read every post but im sure you have a ton of gas in your oil by now.

I wouldn't trust the OEM oil press gauge.

Did you use a flashlight? The ring is extremely easy to see.

Yeah I've changed my oil three times already. I have the sending unit on order from z1.

Yeah I used a flashlight. All I see are the teeth and some notches. But I really can't tell if the flywheel is warped or anything. I don't feel to safe under the car while someones cranking it.

If the teeth and notches are straight that's not the issue. The oil pressure is odd.

Changed the oil press sending unit. Started the car and no difference. I guess the front end is coming off and I'm changing the oil pump. I've never done this before. Any suggestions? I'll start with the manual of course. Just have to find with folder it's in. I hope this is the fix!!!!

Good news. got a snap-on oil pressure gauge and hooked it up to where the oil press. sending unit is. i got 60 psi at start up on cold engine. so my pump is good. ordered the intake valve timing control solenoid a few days ago at the stealership. hopefully it comes in tomorrow. ill update later.

edit: and the pressure steadily decreased while warming up but i didnt want to run it to long cause i just did an oil change. didnt want to much fuel to mix in with my $10 a quart oil...

Well I changed the IVT solenoid. Which costs me 200 bucks. I got no change. Car starts but cel still flashes. Same as before. Idk what else to do. I guess I'll drop the trans and check the condition of the flywheel.

10 bucks a quart for royal purp. How much do u guys pay? Might be because the shipping to Hawaii. Idk.

Followed this thread and have a suggestion (didn't see this discussed). I had a similar problem with two cylinders. Your lucky since the engine should not run with 3 bad mis-firing cyclinders. It can't be the timing since some of the cylinders are firing and the. A scope is the best tool for checking, but a VOM will work. With the engine running, disconnect each wire from the suspect injector and check for a pulse. Next check the voltage to the coil packs. If the ECU was disturbed at some time, it could be the connections out of the ECU or piggyback if you are using one. Hope this helps.
