Serious question, search yielded nothing...
My buddy is giving me his turbo, for free...
Yes, free.
One question though...
Is it possible to put a Mitsubishi Evo's turbo on the DE engine...?
Even with a custom fab manifold?
I'm confused. I mean, it IS free... But yeah. You gear heads are my only hope!

What Evo turbo did your friend hook you up with? Evo 8 turbo? Evo 9? 8.5 hotside, 9.5 hotside? Just because you have a turbo doesn't mean squat. You still need injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, piping for everything, downpipe, manifolds dependent on what your doing, oil return lines, something to tune with, and a whole lot of fabrication. If your going to do it all custom, buy a bigger turbo. Your best bet is to scrap this whole idea and buy a kit.
I hope your *** isn't

He is giving me the turbo off his Evo 9- while I realize I'd have to fabricate a lot of the things to make it work, that isn't what I am concerned with. Of course I realize that just because I have a turbo, doesn't mean I just put it inside my engine bay, and hope that it works... I'm not a retard. What I am asking is, is it possible to make it work? So please keep the flames to a minimum. Hence the name of the post, "SERIOUS question." Not "Make fun of my post, because you obviously have nothing better to do."

Anything is possibly
"SERIOUSLY" it is.
Unless you have a lot of time and a lot of fabricating skills its not going to be worth your while at all... You'll pay an assload to have a shop do all that work and its not like it would be utilizing off the shelf parts. If you want a single set up get a turbo that is sized correctly, but in all honesty I would scrap the idea
The emphasis in your original post seems to be that you got a FREE turbo, which leads me to believe the nature of your question is "will this help me get boosted at a bargain price?"
While as it has been stated, it is certainly possible to get the EVO turbo in your car, you will either spend a ton of time, or a lot of money, or both, to make that happen, and will end up with results that are going to significantly underperform the engineered turbo packages that are available today for your car.
Further, boosting the DE Engine and bargain don't generally go together... You can't get it done without spending some significant dollars and/or a lot of time.
Nice thought, but IMO don't waste your time.

A turbo is the cheapest part of turbocharging a Z or G. The rest of the "kit" is what adds up. Is it possible - yes. Would I suggest it - depends, definitely not if your reason for doing it is because you got a free turbo. Also, I would not recommend that turbo for a 3+ Liter VQ engine... unless you have two of them
If your name isn't Sasha, Hal, Sam or Sharif sell the turbo and put the money towards an estabished kit. There are members on here that have the technical know how to fab their own kits and most have chosen not to.
You are getting somewhat flamed here because if you had this ability you would have never asked the question you did in the first place.
The F/I forum is Sparta.... the weak need not attend

You can use any turbo you want, its all a matter of having the right flange and you have the space for it, now how it will perform is another story, that little turbo will fall on its face with our vq's, unless you just want a turbo for the cool sound and no performance.
If they have the technical know how too, then why do they go with what everyone else does instead of fabing up their own?
