Exclamation New MAF sensor for more boost?

My tuner told me I need a new Map sensor because the cold weather is making me make more power and maxing out my MAF. What happens is the car goes into limp mode and I have to turn the car off and lower the boost. Scares the crap out off me every time it happens.

Is this true and where can I get a better maf? I did a little research and theres a HPX maf?

Right now im on the stock Plastic tube.

Yeah, I’m not entirely sure but I had UpRev Osiris on my car and I talked to my UpRev tuner and I think he said I’d need to get a new MAF, I looked at the PMAS Performance MAF Sensor that GTM has on their site… but I ended up switching to ProEFI’s 48 computer in the end, didn’t need to swap out the MAF.

I have a MAF and the OEM housing for sale if you want.

However, I have trouble believing that you're making so much power on a TN kit, and that its so cold in FL that you're maxing out the MAF. I honestly didn't even know one could max out a MAF...

Yea its making me crazy, I cant run no more then 8lbs without it setting off limp mode. My car dynod more power then normal with the TN kit, in 105 degree weather at 4lbs I made 345hp, at 7.5lbs I made 412. Im sure in this cold weather im making gobs more and blowing out the maf.

I think Uprev sells a MAP sensor to handle higher air flow than stock. It was listed on their website when I looked into it a while back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYucV97DGHk This was in JULY and it was 100 degrees in that shop. The car made over 400 easy, im running a straight 3inch pipe out the back, not sure if thats adding to the power. Also the motor always was a beast from the start, it was on Nitrous from 1,000miles and untill 58,000. Usually 2 bottles per weekend. Not the greatest video but if you look on my Youtube page theres a bunch more dyno vids on the TN setup.

Chances are they were not lying to you. We see it forced induction cars here relatively often.
We have a handful of the sensors in stock still if you need one shipped asap.

THanks so much! Do you need a re-tune after you install it?

I had to get an upgraded MAF, I guess they lost all resolution over 4k RPMs. I believe UpRev sells one on their site.

You have to be retuned just take your car to your tuner then put it in there.

you will have to be re-tuned since all the parameters will change and there will be more range/more of them.

I had heard awhile back HPX went out of business Not sure what other options are out there for your needs but seems like a few people still have HPX's around soo you should be able to get up and running

I ran into the same problem you did at 7psi on my kit I run the HPX now and have no issues

My tuner is also recommending me to go with an aftermarket MAF sensor. I'm switching to Osirus and Uprev sells a MAF sensor for $350. My supercharger setup should be making roughly at around 400HP which is exactly the the fuzzy point.
