I noticed in the OP of VTR's introduction thread that they mentioned a car that went 8.33 seconds @ 176 mph.

Then I found a vid of the car's run on VTR's website...

They say it's the fastest street tire car. I've known about their 6 second 200+mph tube chassis Z for years, but I hadn't heard about this 8 second Z until now. I've never seen this car discussed here on my350z in the last 4 years since I joined the site. I asked for more info about this car in the other thread, but there has been no response yet from VTR or anyone else (Folks seem to be too caught up in the ridiculous UpRev drama that is ruining that thread). I'm very curious to learn more details about this Z. So I figured I would bring it to the attention of the FI section in hopes that some guys might know more info about this Z and it's setup.

Judging from the vid, it sounds like it has an auto trans. I also noticed that it still appears to be a unibody car, which leads me to wonder why this car isn't listed in the top 25 drag racing list. I've heard that the reason that VTR's 6 second car wasn't included in the top 25 list is because it is not a unibody car. Can anybody shed any light on this 8 second Z and why it isn't listed in the top 25?

 

They (VTR) post up the slip within the top 25 thread with specifics and I will add it.

Have you ever heard about this car before? I know VTR wasn't really involved on this forum in the past, but it's surprising that this Z hasn't been widely discussed or even mentioned on here in the past 4 years.

 

The announcer said "that performance motorsports team" Maybe thats why he isn't fully claiming it.

 

Was this a collaboration b/w the two shops? I never thought to ask.

 

such a sick car... i have seen that video before... maybe a year or so now, but i figured it was someone on here as i don't know too many of you yet. would love to see it in person!

 

I did some Google searching. The car belonged to Performance Motorsport and apparently they hired Venny to build the motor.

It also looks like this car in a previous form made multiple 10 second passes in 2004 with a Power Enterprise turbo kit and a big shot of NO2. It had a 6MT trans back then. During my tenure on my350z, I have never seen any mention of this previous version of the car or its 10 second times either.

I don't have a lot of info.. It's the 350Z's VQ running 30lbs of boost..

Here's what I found:

stock crank, stock intake manifold.... LOTS OF BOOST.. NO JUICE!!

I believe back then there wasn't Vinny Ten Racing.

The old shop back in 04 was Performance Motorsport if I'm not mistaken,
that is why you hear the announcer mention Performance Motorsport
