Default 03 G35 FS: APS Extreme TT BUILLLLT by GTM Opinions...

So heres the deal... There is a local guy that has an 03 OB G35 coupe 6MT. He has reciepts for over 37k worth of work done to the car at GTM in California. Car has 120k on it and build has 24k. Build includes built shortblock, pistons, sleeved, tranny upgrade, coilovers, APS extreme TT kit with upgraded dual Garrett turbos, you name it pretty much everything built! he had a very long list of upgrades.

Anyways he has had the car up on craigslist for awhile now and he cant get rid of it. he started at 25k then came down as far as 19k. This winter he put in an aftermarket alarm and remote start and ever since he did that the car wont start. says it turns over but wont fire. He says it is the NATS system and the car just needs to be brought to nissan for a security relearn (he put a dummy key under the dash to use for the remote start and thats what caused it to mess up the nats). I researched it and it does sound legit. My only worry is that this car has SOOOOOO much stuff done to it that what if it isnt the security relean, or if it is and I get it fixed and the car has a rod knock or somne other major problem with the motor....

Right now im pretty much getting the car for 14k if i do the deal... trading my running car for his car im gonna have to trailer out 2 hours to my place and go from there...

What are you opinions... could it really just be the NATS?

heres the pics...

Sleeves

How do you upgrade the 6MT?

Did you call Sam @ GTM and ask him about the car? Ask the seller to fix the starting issue @ the local Nissan dealer or another VQ shop. IMO, unless you know the seller or the car very well, you MUST have a trusted independant shop look over the car prior to purchase - compression and leakdown required.

Say no to sleeves

+1 on Cass-what was built in the transmission?

Why is that car so fawking weak with that turbo kit?

I would have blocked out the old owners personal info.

Some may not agree with me, but if he made it so far on a sleeved block he hardly or never drove it hard. As soon as you do with that mileage on the motor consider it done, just MO.

The way I see it, you are buying a problem. This wont be your only vehicle right?

No matter how much he has in it, and how little it may seem to you that you are paying, you have to look at it that way. Plus you are trading a running car.

No chance in hell Id do it. For around $20K there are a ton of FI Z'G's in the marketplace that would have a better chance of providing you less of a hassle jumping into this world.

I love how people add 2 BOV's and make the cars laggier after shifts. If this guy has 3 BOV's dont walk away, run away.

Talking to Sam about the "truth" LOL @ considering that.

Of course he will say the build went well, and golden pistons were used, along with top machining so the sleeves wouldnt lift like a ***** skirt in a windstorm.

edit-LMAo @ that list and claims. I dont believe the transmission parts nor have I ever heard of them. It makes no sense to put in SHORTER gears on a car that would have issues hooking up. Either a d-bag seller making $Hit up, or he got his a$$ raped and gaped by GTM. Ignorance is bliss.

Thanks

That guy has so much BS in that thread, I dont have time to bold and HL all the crack in that ad.

KDW street slicks, appraised at $42K, claims of 1020hp and not being driveable so its 500whp is the funniest.

Needless to say I think its clear whats going on here.

I had a 06 with a APS Ext kit and sleeves and if I did it over would not have gone for the sleeves.
At 14k the owner (or you) could part the car out and make more money.

if he did have all those parts, that would be a hell of a steal to part out. That tranny has been available for quite a while, but its meant for NA road racing in that it had a very low trq rating.

those heads are quite expensive as well.

Something is very wrong with the car for that price as its pretty much the top of the top for parts.

Pretty sure the FCON negates the NATS system as well ((every other standalone does) , so thats not the reason its not starting.

THIS... run, someone is just trying to pass on a problem. Then when you find out you bought a turd the seller wil be all "I had no idea" or "You're still getting a hell of a deal".

At 14k the owner (or you) could part the car out and make more money.
Assuming all the parts are actually there. +1 on the trans gears and GTFO on the 1XXXwhp claim.
