Experience on valve clearence with JWT S7 cams ?
Hey guys, I'm looking for anyone with experience with jwt s7 cams on a 06 rev-up motor. Today I was at the shop and we started my car for the first time since the new motor was put in. I have a long block built by Kyle at import part pros. So far the motor runs good. Just need a few adjustment on a few things but I noticed a slight ticking noise kinda sounds like injectors. I asked the shop mech. what it was and he said it sounds like the valve train.
It is not a tap just a slight ticking. The mech said he didn't do the motor so he can't say what the valve clearence is. He said not to worry cause Kyle may have set them that way because of the cams and the work I have done. I'm goin to call kyle on monday I was just seeing if anyone can give me any info on this. If it's normal or not.. Thxs guys!!!

Get this and start poking around:

When I installed my APS injectors, the ticking concerned me because I did not know what it was. After some poking around I found that the injectors were very loud, so I did not worry about it.

Thanks guys, I'm running dw 850cc injectors. I am def calling Kyle on monday to talk to him. It does sound like a injector noise but a tiny bit loader. Now I know that im not running the fuel dampners anymore but I just hope that it is nothin to worry about.
I was running dw 600cc injectors before but with the stock rails and the fuel dampners. So now that I'm not I just hope that iut is the injectors. My luck tho it's not..... Keepin my fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!

to speak off personal experience off my own block from ipp... well the block was decked wrong, piston stuck out .005 in the front and was in the hole .002 in the back on the front 2 cylinders, bearings went in dirty, bore was sloppy, couldn't keep a flywheel or pulley on it (56grams heavy on the back) ate rear and front main seals, it was a stage 3 longblock with s7 cams. All this was found after it finally ate the woodruff key and jumped timing.
On another note tell him you want the blue printing from your motor; give you a hint he doesn't have it nor do it.
I wish i went Geo's route an did it myself

You have got to be kidding me????????????? So what happen? Did you have a leg to stand on? Your telling me that I'll ask him about it and he going to tell me he doesn't have all the paper work? I have did some research and people talk pretty good about him. Man this better not be a issue. I will take a trip to ipp beleave that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in a pinch you can also use a long screwdriver to isolate noises too - ear on the handle side.
valvetrain noise will increase with rpm. I once had what I thought was a timing chain tensioner going bad (it was a LOUD rattle)....turned out to be a loose alternator braket that resonated at just the right rpm. Found it with the long screwdriver method

Kyle has been a really great guy to deal with, up there with the best customer service as far as purchasing off the shelf parts are concerned. I don't think you'll have a problem.
