Default SUPERCHARGERS with test pipes, ART Pipes and HFC's..

There are many theories of which works better. The most common statement is that test pipes will decrease boost and increase HP, but what is the impact to the TQ levels?

HFC's will increase boost, HP's levels will be lower than TP's, however the TQ will be greater than TP's.

Now we have ART Pipes which have proven gains in the NA space, but how will this fair in the Supercharged environment?

The other factor for consideration is early HFC failure due to the supercharger...

So this thread is for discussion on what the ideal solution will be if emissions are not a factor of concern.

Because not everyone has a Y-pipe exhaust. There are true duals, x-pipes etc..

ART pipes arent that much different that test pipes, as far power goes with a supercharger. I had both megen test and got a dyno, and I also did the same with ART pipes when I had a 350z last summer.

Sub'd. Mine made good power with Kinetix HFC's, curious on how TPs would do.

A guy over here with the same intake/exhaust set up as me i.e a Vortech s/c, Kinetix SSV and Invidia GS200, changed his Kinetix HFC for Japspeed test pipes. He re-tuned it and got an extra 21 hp on the same dyno.

I have just replaced my Kinetix HFC with Japspeed test pipes and the car is being tuned this week.
However, I'm going from full Vortech kit to RFS, Walbro255, DW600cc's and UpRev so am expecting a slight improvement anyway.

Keep us posted on your results Sam! What's RFS?

Mr Squeeze, what were your results after the ART pipes?

RFS = Return Fuel System... unless he's referring to something else.

Not much difference at all the ,dyno's were done on different days.
You can look at my thread history and look for the dyno's in there.

I dont have the car anymore , and now have those same ART pipes on my 370z.

In my opinion I wouldnt really bother with HFC. Mine lasted for a week and a 1/2 blew out and clogged my muffler. They are also loud, not as loud as testpipes obviously but still loud. If I could do it over id get the art pipes. I hear that they arent as loud as the hfc either.

I suppose I'd like to hear from supercharged owners with ART pipes... And what they think about it.

with anything forced induction the best thing is not to have cats. Cats get too hot and break down which can cause them to clog.

People think just because the backpressure (boost) goes down with more flow that the power goes down and this is false. More flow through an engine=more power.

also, when you use a s/c you might as well just give up the idea of having massive amounts of tq.

507hp with vortech on a low compression motor and test pipes.

That sounds like a poor quality part and shouldn't be associated with HFCs in general. My Kinetix are holding up just fine with the Vortech a year later with daily driving.

Honestly, my main reason for having them is for the smell. I have had cat-less turbo cars for the past 7-8 years and I cherish the normal exhaust smell.

odd, i run open breathers on my engine and still have no smell.

truthfully, unless you have exhaust leaks your exhaust should exit the back of your car and not come into the cabin. so idk why you had weird exhaust smell.
