what to do?? need new enginee
so i blew my motor about 6 months ago, finally saved up enough money to fix my car. at this point im not exactly sure whats the best way to fix my car. Would it be smarter to buy a shortblock already assembled from a vendor and put it in, or should i buy rods pistons and etc and take it to a machine shop locally and have them assemble it. which way would be better? also, what kind of build should i look for if i want to make my motor last as long as possible, im really hoping with my new motor it can last a long time. is there a big difference on eagle rods vs carillo rods? i was running the 3.13 pulley before my motor blew, i am hoping to upgrade to the 2.87 pulley once i get my new motor. i have a 06 revup g35. any input would be great.. thankss
Are your heads destroyed or reusable? Goals?
Carillo rods are lighter and stronger than Eagles, but cost more. Eagles are fine. Either one will do the job, just depends on your budget.
Do your research on vendors and their builds. There are some that have an excellent track record with happy customers.

Any build will be more than enough for a supercharger. A lot of people are reliably running a 2.87 pulley on a completely stock motor, as long as it is healthy and it has been tuned well. The common death of stock VQ rods is torque, and blowers don't put out nearly as much torque as turbos. My 400whp Vortech setup is only laying down 330wtq when the turbo guys at that same power level are getting close to 400wtq as well. So any aftermarket rod choice should be more than sufficient to max out a blower. If you plan on switching to turbos in the future, than your build may change a bit.
