Default Wont start after injector install (Vortech)

I recently installed my Vortech Kit everything went smooth car ran and drove with stock injectors. I got a UTEC with my kit from the same guy I got the kit from, he had it tuned for 650cc injectors. I installed 650's and the first crank the car started and shut off after about 40 seconds, since then it will just crank and wont start. I can smell fuel in the exhaust. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Make sure the map for the 650cc injectors is selected. You could also try starting the car on the factory ecu only. If it starts then you know there is a problem with the utec.

Edit: When you turn the key does the fuel pump prime?

ya, probably not on the 650cc map for the utec. If the selector is on map 0 that is factory ecu which would be pretty rich with bigger injectors.

Just sounds like a simple map selection causing too much fuel. I wouldn't worry about something being broken. Easy fix.

Did you re-connect your throttle body plug?

i wouldn't trust that his maps are correct. You're rich one way or another and that's why it won't run.

I'm a total noob but when I got my kit I got injectors from someone that were the wrong impedence... My first shop made the mistake and a bunch of guys who knew what they were talking about forgot about it- so maybe that's something to think about?

Yes throttle body plug is connected, I replaced plugs today and tryed it again with no sucess. I checked spark and got not spark! So out of curiousty I put the utec to 0 "stock ECU" and I got spark but it still wont stay running. (probably because there is too much fuel) My guess is maybe something messed up in the map?

yes, the map is screwed up. plugs won't change a rich condition. You just need it tuned.

also, are they low impedance injectors? i don't think those will work with utec

Could be a bad UTEC since you're not getting spark -- i don't think it's possible to tune it so bad it won't fire the coils. They are known to be flakey.

No they are high impedance injectors. It may be an issue with the way it is hooked up, I will check my ground and double check all connections are secure sometime this week. I know it has a good tune on it, it came off a running car with this identical set up. Thanks for everyones input so far ill keep you posted if I get it going or not, Thanks again

One thing I also know with a bunch of failed starts you're going to start getting lots of fuel in your oil. Hope you're ready for a change. I failed to start with some injectors and there was traces of gas in my oil. Bad, they tell me.

Sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem. Are you running the Vortech FMU or the walbro intank pump?

Walbro in tank pump. It ran with stock injectors tho with walbro. It just isnt getting spark when UTEC is hooked up. Checked everything today and it is all hooked up correctly. Does anyone know if you are suposed to use stock fuel rail spacers with the biger spacers together or just the extended ones by themselves? I used just the ones I got with the RC injectors...

Have you tried disconnecting the utec, and fired up the car on the stock ecu only? Try this and if the car fires up then you've eliminated a fuel system problem, and narrowed it down to the utec.
