Default My 03 Touring build

I bought my 03 Lemans Sunset touring 6 speed Mar of 2010. Since then it has begun quite the transformation. Originally I had decided to stay N/A and then fell into the FI Black hole.

This was the day I bought it bone stock with 58xxx Km on it

Shortly after I ordered my Axis Matrix 20x9 front 20x10.5 rears with 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 nittos

I continued with mods adding a Kinetix Manifold, Stillen headers and testpipes, Invidia Gemini exhaust, UR pulleys, and swapped the final drive for 4.08's

I've known Sasha from Boosted performance for a few years now as we live in the same city. Suprisingly between him and my GF they both convinced me to go FI. Sasha is doing the complete build on my Z as we speak and will have it ready for tuning shortly.

I'm expecting severe traction issues with the 285's and may have to swap back to the 3.5 final drive but going to try a new project first. Stuffing 315/25/20 Pilot Sport Cup+ / N-Spec's and see how she holds. Thanks for taking the time to read I will post more pics as I take them

Congrats. You may want to consider the 3.3 final drive. A lot of members suggest it and have good results with traction (mostly guys pushing past 500hp level). I'm planning on swapping mine out this or next week hopefully. A 315 tire will def be a challenge, but I wish you luck.

The Kinetic manifold looks nice but it doesn't perform as well as many other options. If your not attached to it look into other options

Ive thought about the 3.8's. I guess we will have to see. Ive been doing some searching on the web and found a few guys running 315/25/20's on a 10.5 rim on a Z without any major modifications needed. I checked on my Z now i have 285's with 15mm spacers and they rub a little, need to roll the fenders for sure. But with the spacers the tire is sitting at the same point as the 315 would without spacers. I have 40mm clearance behind now with the spacers so when the 315's go on I should have about 10mm inner clearance. It will be pushing it and tight as eff but I think it can definitely be done As for the kinetix I love the looks of it and its more of a looks thing for me. Power #'s don't mean a whole lot to me as long as I enjoy the feel, drive, and look of the car

I love the Sasha setups

OP, I thought the 3.3 (auto) rear gers would be what you want?

The reason I was hesitant about going FI is I love the reliability of N/A. Maybe that's not a fair statement to make... but FI has a whole lot more things that can go wrong. I wanted to keep the gears so I can make a safe reliable # at lower boost levels while having the gearing to make it feel like it has the extra power. If that makes any sense

Ding! Ding! Ding!

FI with more aggressive gearing and you will spin your tires until kingdom come... I believe the 3.3 is what you really want...

Thanks will post more as i take them. As for the gearing i'm not opposed to swapping them if need be. Gonna test it out on the 4.08's with the 285's then with the 315's and gear accordingly after. If with the 315's it doesn't spin at all in second i will keep the 4,08's. If It does I may swap gears down until I find a happy medium. I don't race light to light nor do i race much at the track anymore. 95% of my driving is simply weekend cruising. So traction is not an extreme concern of mine

Well I gotta admit I'm going at this half as$ backwards as my original goal was to remain N/A. Some decisions may have to be changed, but never regretted. The gears I've had for a few months now and I love them. Thankfully gears and such are relatively easy to sell, so should I need to change it wont be that big of an issue

All in all great. Sasha installed everything and worked like a mad dog to get it all done before I get it tuned. Awesome vender, God like fabricator, and all around great guy. Getting it tuned Thursday and will post up some #'s
