If its your only driver dont do it plain and simple, issues arise here and there. i thought mine was fine after a month and a half of no issues after the install and then my slave blew out on me (common issue with the HR with an aftermarket clutch). as far as your budget your fairly close since you already have a clutch and such. and if your only looking for 450 whp id look into the supercharger for the HR theyre stage 2 set up made 500 on a 370, so the 3.5 HR wont be far behind if at all, and itl be a tad cheaper. But your stock block form is alot more reliable than the de so even if you go tt and keep it fairly low boost you "should" be fine (quoted because that depends on your installation and tune, because if those are flawed your engines ****ed XD) i drove the **** out of my car at 480 whp and 530whp (i have an HR aswell with the gtm stage 2 tt kit) and it was holding up great other than the slave going out.

What Keith has taught the community is that if you drive it like an old man and never hit boost you won't have nearly as many issues. Maybe an oil leak if you're lucky.

this. I drive my car normal. Only time I'm in boost is if I need to pass someone or I'm doing some spirited driving. Otherwise...the car has enough pull in vacuum to get where I want to go.

If you aint boosting, you aint trying! Nothing wrong with saving up to do a build! Just make sure you factor in for unexpected consequences.

A little late to the party, but don't do it. I am on the cusp of having mine running again and set back after small set back . Now it literally just needs a break in tune (until something else fails) and I couldn't give a $hit about it. I search the auto trader all day looking at porsches and GTRs. Praying someone steals my car so I can get out of it. Back in 2006 I felt the exact same way you did if you want to keep it I won't talk you out of that but please don't TT it.

Sell your car and buy a turn key 350z turbo car.

Or just trade me your car for mine.

Currently the market has a handful of good boosted zs mine just happens to be easy to find

At this point why spend 12-15k. When 5k more gets you a good condition turbo car with minor body mods.

Selling his car and putting out the same money a legit turbo setup will cost him can get him a low mileage super clean boosted car with tons of other mods.

Wish I had the same options when I did my z. I would have saved a ton of money.

Sounds like a plan! Or I could just buy a corvette and keep posting and making fun of 350Zs.
