Supercharging a Z how reliable?
Ive heard so many horror stories about supercharging a 350z, is there really a issue with the motor not suited for a supercharger? or can most of the blown motors be explained away because of bad tuning? Assuming I have my car tuned really good. I am going to go with the Vortech unit, is there really THAT much to worry about?
Thanks,
Chris.
Thanks,
Chris.

Ive used the search...Ive been reading threads for hours on end. I just wanted straight forward opinions on if the blown motors were because of tuning issues or motor weakness......If ive missed a thread like that, im sorry
Im sure that if I look around and read every thread about blown motors I can come to a conclusion..but I just want some opinions.
Thanks
Chris.

well...I have a supercharger on my Z (ATI PROCHARGER) for over 1500miles..No probs so far, but the problem everyone else has is related to tuning issues..My personal friend had a s/c on his Z for over 6 months and never a problem but after he got it tuned to a 12.5/1 a/f ratio he blew his engine... The problem lies within the timing and the method of fuel delivery.....To be reliable I feel the timing and fuel delivery needs to be addressed..one solution that is out there is buy an ATI tuner kit and add power enteprise 380 injectors and a technosquare reflash...Which worked for 12secz...Just do ALOT of research before jumping into FI...

look at the top of the forum for the guilty party.......shoddy engineering and poor research and development has made ATI the #1 Z-engine killer.......their "technical notice" was their way of saying "sorry".......nice, huh?

Damn dude you made me laugh my *** off here at work with your reply's lol. Good $hit!
P.s., to the owner of this thread. This is an inherent risk of going FI from N/A. That's just responsibility and there's no way out of it. However, just do your research, and do it right the 1st time. Rather be ZOOOOOM, than KAAABOOOOOOOM!

I look at FI and N/A like a fish tank
N/A is a goldfish bowl
FI is a salt water tank.
I can keep a goldfish alive but exotic fish, They require special
know how and care.
FI is a shark
I like my goldfish and plane to grow it into an Oscar.
