Umm and this is a bad thing?

I voted NO!

This pole is idiotic. Who are you to demand WHAT & WHEN a mag will publish an article? So what you're a paid subscriber, that doesn't give you the right to tell them when and what to publish.

I do think that a lot of this is SportZ's fault. They should not have made it known that they were going to do this article. It's just like when someone says they will be getting a dyno "in a few days" and everyone hounds them until the results are posted or the thread dies.

I personally do not subscribe to SportZ because I know anything 350Z related will be posted here before I even received it. I'd prefer to receive a mag that had at least a few surprises in it.

Default Thanks for your opinion redline

I really appreciate knowin that my poll is idiotic. However, over 60% of the voters don't agree with you. Sport Z Magazine advertised the shoot out heavily here, and recruited cars from members. The members of this board are exactly the people the magazine wants to reach as new subscribers.

And yet, after all the hype, they want us to wait 3 months for any info at all about the results. Its a pip-squeak of a magazine, run on a shoestring. The big monthlies (like R&T and C&D) and AutoWeek often buy their own cars for long term tests, and maintain a fleet of those cars for their editors to drive.

If Bob would just publish more often this wouldn't be a problem. In the meantime, he has some angry readers on his hands.

I agree with hfm, they did go to the trouble to organize the test.

That being said, I don't think it's a good idea to post that the test is done. I understand that they are trying to spark interest to sell more subscriptions. It's just that now we have to weight 3 months? That seems a little long. I'm worried that it will **** people off and eventually someone may leak the information.

Maybe you should donate a nice chunk of money to enable him to publish more often, especially considering he is on a "shoestring" budget. What you're trying to get him to do isn't even a reasonable expectation.

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, it was a Stillen employee that posted the statement that the test was done.

Jim_Jones... all name calling about your thread aside (which is childish people... this is far from the most inane thread we've see here)...

I agree with the last few posts... SportZ went to the trouble of organizing the test, they can release the info however they want.

The fact that you only get 4 magazines a year makes it even more important them to get articles that people will want to read. That way they can build a reader base, draw more subscibers, expand their coverage, and try to work toward a monthly magazine.

Remember, they are a relatively new magazine and, I bet, still working to establish themselves.

If they simply hand out the information from the article, what would be the incentive for anyone to buy it. Other magazines don't do this so why should SportZ?

Go read the "Sport Z Supercharger Shootout - Done! " thread if you want some anecdotal observations of the shoot out. I was there.

Default Business Ethics?

Regarding the fourth choice in the poll, which was not in my original post, but was added by some poltergeist, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BUSINESS ETHICS.

Default I OFFER $50.00 TO SPORT Z

This appears to be about money and subscriptions so I am offering Sport Z $50.00, equal to two one year subscriptions IN ADDITION to the subscription I have already paid for. I will pay for the overall raw data without any subjective impressions. I will also swear to complete secrecy.

I feel that this will accomplish Sport Zs goals of increasing revenue. I propose a private e-mail to myself.

How about it Jeff? (zland)

I want to do a FI system over the winter when I can't drive the car. Last summer was a waste waiting for parts; I didn't get to drive the car at all. I have only 3700 miles in a year. I want to enjoy the car next summer not work on it all season.

The results will be posted here about 10 minutes after subscribers get the next issue of the magazine at the latest. Sport Z magazine should be aware that they are not going to get any new subscribers who are only looking for this info who know this. Their subscribers are not looking for that magazine to be a source of late brakeing news. Magazines are never going to be now that we have the internet. That being said they paid for the research. They should do with it as they please.

This is what i wrote on the other thread - "Shootout complete or done. "

WOW. I dont check this site for a couple of days and I find this.

First off I want to say my car was involved in the Sport Z Magazine shootout.

I volunteered my time and my precious car's time to better serve the Z community and not allow themselves to be guinea pigs in choosing a Supercharger for their Z. I wanted to have an unbiased and fair test performed for all to see.

I am a little displeased with Sport Z magazine. I along with others volunteered our time, drove to San Diego (I live in Los Angeles area 2 hours away. ATI guys drove 22 hours from Kansas!! Vortech and Stock from Valley in CA - 2 1/2 hrs away. I left my house at 6am!!! to be there by 8am on Sat) and spent our entire Sat watching our cars get brutalized on the track and the drag strip. I knew this was going to happen and had no problem with it.

What I didn't realize is that the publisher wouldn't be there; just Jeff. I mean no offense Jeff, you were awesome (and I sincerely mean that, you meant well) but i expected someone who represented Sport Z full time to at least come by and say thank you for all of us that participated, thanks for driving down here, thanks for letting us thrash your car in the autocross, thanks for letting us take off 1/3 of the tread on the tires, anything just as a gesture of thanks. But nothing like this was there. Not even a bucket of ice filled with bottled water, no chairs for us to watch, no real thought out plan. Just a hastily put together plan to test these cars and take advantage of the decent people who willingly provided their vehicles.

In my business I get treated with the utmost respect and decency and treat those who have volunteered time/money/energy with the same respect and I suggest that anyone taking advantage of someone else's property for their benefit should accord those people the same decency. I feel like all of use in the test were not given appreciation or the proper respect.

I wanted nothing more than for someone to say "Sam thanks for your time and use of your vehicle, here is a free subscription to our magazine." A FREE subscription? It costs you nothing!! I don't want a handout and DO NOT need a handout. It would have been a small gesture of appreciation from your company that would have brought some level of satisfaction. Nothing like this was done. Future reference: treat your volunteers with more decency than a common person on the street. Without our cars you wouldn't of had this test.

I wish to thank Stillen and all the gang there for providing drinks for all people involved in the dyno runs on Mon morning. That small gesture went a long way. That is the way you start a relationship with the consumer and a business model to follow for all small companies.

Sport Z magazine: Good luck in your future endeavors, but do not call on me to provide you with anything since you provided me with nothing.

I, at least hope this article provides some insight and knowledge to the Z community in regards to superchargers.

FINAL THOUGHT: SMALL GESTURES OF APPRECIATION GO A LONG WAY.

You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for participating in the shootout, and for bringing some first hand knowledge of what happened there. I am a Z owner who has spent a lot of money for N/A mods, and I am ready to go F/I. I just want the info now. Not 3 months from now. I subscribe to Sport Z, bought all the back issues since the first 350Z article, and just expect to be treated like a good customer, not a leper.

End of rant.

I am sorry SK100 was treated this way. Some form of appreciation is necessary. However had I not read his post I would be empathizing with Sport Z mag %100. SK100s post diminishes my enthusiasm for supporting them.
All the same why cant all you people understand why they are holding the info until the release date of the mag. Dont you understand that this comparo will be a selling point for their mag?
To publish the results of this shootout would be like Playboy posting free pics of one of its feature models. Some would not buy that issue of Playboy knowing they could get some pics for free anyway.
Similarly I would love to see the results of the shootout! I am VERY curious. For this reason only I want to buy this issue. If I obtain the results some other way, I wont be buying the issue.
Here is at least some proof that they could lose sales buy releasing the info. CANT YOU DIMWITS UNDERSTAND THIS????
Keep information under wraps= More magazine sales. Why do you think they put those sealed plastic baggies around stroke mags? So people have to buy them!

Now that thats said, after reading SK100s post I feel very bad. After offering their cars to be tested I expected AT LEAST they would be given a free subscription. But not so much as providing water and seats for the donors????? Very poorly handled.
Thumbs down to Sport Z mag! No Bueno!

This may have a back lash effect come renewel time. This may make or break the mag.

It seems like a no win scenario.

I thank you for letting them use your car, some of us do care.

Thanks!

That blows. I would have never let the guy thrash my car, what if he broke something? So who one the shoot out then? You can tell us.

Please post the info here, the other one is 6 pages long! How can this be a shoot out now? Were all the cars that were tested stock besides the blowers?

The Vortech smack talking the Stillen speaks volumes (clue) then ATI needing octane booster plus the smoke seen rumors.

So we can just write our own results.

Anyways from the sig

"Crawford Polished Front Engine Cover'

What exactly is that? Pic?

So I should retype the info, or better yet, wade through 6 pages and cut and paste it so you don't have to to go read it?
