BACK ON TOPIC I just bought 5-312 from Summit Racing for $395 shipped. We'll find out how much it helps compared to the stock Vortech intercooler.

Mine. Waiting for the tuner to send my Dyno sheets so I can start a thread. So far it's taking him a week. I might have to end up driving to get them.

22psi on the street and intake temps didn't get over 103* even behind a stock g35 bumper.

Just Becuz it doesn't happen in your world on the forums doesn't mean it doesn't happen. The same intercooler is also used on other platforms for much higher than 600HP but I guess those don't count Becuz 800HP on a grand national isn't the same as a 350z.... :/

Well some other things you can look at is, you're doing headers and test pipes? Ceramic coat them, keep the over all engine bay temp down. Will this help out immensely? probably not but a good option.

Had a friend Cdoxp800 who did a custom CAI on his HKS stage 4 and his AIT dropped 20 degrees, he moved the intake to right above his FMIC in the bumper area.

Hay Jeff,

What was the Ambient Temp?

My AIT's go up about 30-40* above Ambient in hi Boost, 16-17psi. I don't think it a very good intercooler.

I went with Jet-Hot's 2000F coating for the headers, but have left the test pipes uncoated. I'm gonna put the CAI back on...what they h*ell, right!?

just under 70* outside but logged starting intake temps on the run were right around 80* from previous pulls so roughly 20-25* increase from start to finish. This is will a full bumper and 20psi of boost. I'm sure with an open front end it would make a world of difference but i prefer the sleeper look.

I was Looking at the Temp right after the 3rd gear pull when it went to 124* sitting at a stop light.

So for Me, Outside temp was 85-87*, intake Temp Crusing was 100-104* and at 7000RPM and 17PSI Temp was at 115*, But in Ref to Ambient, 25-30* increase.

Maybe that's not so bad, wondering how Other Peoples Temps Compare?

Unfortunately, it has been on extended hold while I save up more money to continue the project. Further explanation here...

Sell the engine and all the FI stuff and go for a 2JZ/RB26/LSx and call it a day.

He's in the Bay Area. We get pulled over much less than modified cars in LA.

^ hope that's the case, but I'm still paranoid nonetheless.

@ threatcon, Rob @ ZCG tunes my car, but I always stop by Specialty-Z to see Seb & the guys when I'm in LA

I just got my 5-312 shipped in. Did yours come with mounting brackets? Mine didn't. It has the holes on the side of the intercooler for the brackets, but there's no brackets included.

it wouldnt come with brackets. that part would be car specific. Thats a universal intercooler.

^ +1, mine only came with mounting brackets because it was originally part of a turbonetics kit.

just go to home depot and get two (2) eight inch long metal straps from the hardware isle. cut, bend, & drill the straps to fit your setup. you can suspend the intercooler from the crash bar or use the two factory bolts through the core support on either side of the opening for the radiator (thats what i did - see the attached pic of the brackets).
