haltech, no throttle response
Hey,
Background: got a built aps tt with hks cams, was running fine, took it to an electrician to get my fuel gauge working, got it back and noticed a slow deteriation in throttle response.
Symptoms: at first light throttle got jurky, then it started getting difficult to rev, then you could wot and it sorta climbed revs but did its own thing.
Work done already: did the scans, got camsensor errors, replaced them, no more errors but same symptoms. Cleaned maf and throttle body, even if u manually open throttle body whilst car is on, no rev response. Checked sparks, coils, fuel pressure. Got standard tail lights. Reset ecu, checked haltech harness, pins etc, cleaned.
This issue has been raised before, has anyone found the answer? I have no shorts in the electrics. 5 year project and no go, already spent $ on every upgrade available. I have std tail lights. Its standing at a shop now, any ideas are welcome, some dude mentioned jesus saved his issue. I'm in South Africa, a darwinist that believes in aliens so jesus is not gonna help me, can you?
Many thanks,
Ddd

so you have no codes at all?
i'm sure you have swapped throttle bodies already as well. That didnt fix it?
you do a proper reset of the TB (correct temp, etc)?

Sounds like the issue I had.
The haltech harness brick is such a pita to deal with.
If I tuck my harness away pins pull out. Specifically the one for the tb. I had two pins pull out on opposite ends. Both had green wires. If I don't tuck the harness I can push the pins in and run fine. As zoo as I tuck, the pins pull out.
I have tried to find replacement pins but don't know the brand.
Car would start, idle like crap and die. No code! Basically the tb motor wouldn't turn.

Sounds like a wiring problem or failing throttle body. Generally when we see a throttle fail, it either works or goes into limp mode - so I would start with checking wiring. If you unplug the Haltech, does the throttle work properly? This would identify if it is Haltech patch harness related.
Any chance the patch harness got water in it from the oem-harness-through-firewall grommet not being sealed properly? We have seen this a few times when people run wires/hoses through there and water comes down the factory harness and lands in the Haltech patch harness, corroding pins.

Hi, many thanks for the suggestions, sorry for the late reply. I took the car to my tuner builder and its been sitting for 3 weeks now, hope he looks at it b4 friday, @hal it has got wet in the past, the actual haltech unit will not accept upgrades at the moment either...
