Default built auto dyno question

I have an 04 Z single turbo with a newly built auto trans. When we put it on the dyno my shop (Jotech in garland,tx) is telling me that the torque converter never fully locks up so they can't get a good dyno number for me. The converter is not stock but is new also. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get a true whp reading?

you take it to the track and get your trap speed. Thats the only real indication of HP.

Are you sure you arent misfiring? That will cause the TC to unlock. You should just be able to ground the locking solenoid to force it to lock.

Regardless, locking the TC on a dyno is very hard on the tranny.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if he has done that. They said it drives perfect on the street its just when its on the dyno that he sees the little bit of slippage. Oh and yes taking it to the track will be one of the first things I will do.

you'll put down more tq with the converter unlocked anyways. At least it does on every one of my friends' cars that have auto. Burns up the trans real quick too.

You will have to get an osiris cable and mess with the calc tq tables. That tells it when to lock up essentially on these cars and is really necessary to get the car to lock up properly on the highway and cruising.
