Default necessary to thermal coat the manifolds?

all my parts are here and everything is about to go in.. but right before i have my turbo manifolds in should i thermal coat them?? it costs around 200 bux for the pair.. but would it make a bigg difference?? i got my greddy twin turbo kit used and it already came wrapped in some sort of heat wrap.. i just had my turbos rebuilt so they should be like new, but would you guys recommend thermal coating them?? thankss.

reliability is my main concern, would this make this it more reliable or would it increase its perfornance?? my shop told me it would do a lil bit of both.. but not it doesnt seem like that many people thermal coated there manifolds on here..

It can reduce heat a bit and trap more heat inside which may make them minimally more efficient. I had mine done, outisides only so if it flakes it wouldn't end up in the turbo.

I believe the general concensus is to coat or wrap, but not both.

Necessary? No. Recommended, advantageous, and relatively cheap to do? Yes.

after watching vids from under my car this last dyno tune i won't do anything without heat wrap or coating. My turbo was GLOWING as well my wastegate. Anything to keep heat from melting down my engine is nice

I also did the hot side of the turbos, down pipes and most pipes that are close to the turbos/manifolds. Now is the time to do it before you get it all in, I regretted not doing it the first time, my turbos and down pipes also were a cherry red on the dyno.

Not required but recommended.

I also chose to get the entire hot side of the kit coated, including the turbine housing and the down pipe.

They're likely just getting those cold side pipes polished; not chromed.
