Ace, good luck with the tool. I've done it a few times and the best success I've had is with the plastic ones from Harbor Freight. I use the size that is too small and cut another one up to fit the piece that it needs to be the right size. I've tried two or three different sets and never got them to work correctly.

those are the ones i used!!! love harbor freight.

on a side note, i took my engine out twice with just swinging my a/c condenser out to the side. The last time i just took them apart. The harbor freight clips worked good but actually getting the lines apart was a bioch. They were stuck together pretty hard.

That's good you found the failure. What are you going to do now? Just replace the head gasket? Or is there more wrong with the motor?

that was all that was wrong, it did have standard arp studs though so im switching those out. While im in there its getting Arp L19's, cosworth or dynasty headgaskets, rev up oil pump, pathfinder cooling mod, whole engine gasket rebuild kit, and new spark plugs

[QUOTE=binder;9483930]if a dumbass assembled it then it could have a bad headgasket from mile 1.

+1 for Jeff's comment. Going through this on my car now.

i had this problem also, i added a high pressure rad cap, and replaced the thermostat. the overflow tank never fills to max anymore but the coolant is still dirty( don't have a catch can). also the overheating problems disappeared. prob not a solution to the problem but it did treat the symptoms. I plan on building this block down the road so this solution helped me be able to drive the car and still race it till it get built.
