Default P0605, is my ECU dead?

Hey guys the problem that I'm having is I get the P0605 code and my car is in limp mode. My ECU got wet because I had an area that would leak when it rained and I didn't notice I had it since I would only drive the car about once a week. At first I thought it was that I left a window open but that was not the case. Initially the car would crank but not start and the fuel pump wouldn't prime. At that time I thought it was my keys that got deprogrammed so my mechanic offered to just shutoff the alarm on the car so I could try starting it. When he tried to connect to my ECU with his laptop using the osiris software it wouldn't connect. That's when he disconnected the ECU and water literally poured out. Well at that point I thought my ECU was done and I had lost the tuning software license on it. My mechanic took it to a shop that repairs ECUs and they said it was repairable, that the plug would just need to be changed. I know have the ECU back and the car starts but has CEL and it's getting code P0605 which is putting it in limp mode. Is there anything that I could check or is my ECU pretty much dead?

Good luck. I've seen ECU's with water damage 'thought' to be repairable but were not.

FYI, P0605 = ECM/ECU failure

Have your tuner try to reflash it. If that doesn't work, then you likely need a new ECU.

Not sure on the part number when you say MEC60, but of it helps I have an 05 no revup Manuel transmission base model. My ECU has big letters that say "CY"

Damn that sucks. I've been searching left and right for one either same letters but no luck. So Even if I were to buy one from the same model and transmission it won't work?

From what I hear 'similar' ECU models it can be made to work but you might have to send it out to Uprev for a custom flash or something.

Yep, but he could also have a pro tuner turn nats off. I've had to perform that a few times.

So i could use a similar ecu and it would work? On my current ECU i have an uprev tune, so if I'm understanding correctly i would just have to get my tuner to unmarry the license from my old computer and marry to the new one and turn NATs off. the ECU i was looking at is similar in part number the only difference is that it doesnt say base model but it does say 2005/350z/6MT. Here is a pic

Is there anywhere i can look for my specific ECU? I've searched everywhere i can think of and it seems like I unfortunately have the rarest of ECU's because i can't find it on the web.

Like str8 said all you need is the same model year and transmission type. Except for the one year (03 I think?) where the ECU switched from 1st to 2nd gen mid-year, maybe someone more knowledgeable could clear that up..

So as long as its an ECU from a 2005 6speed it theoretically should work as long as I turn NATS off

you would need to power the ecu up and get the code off of it. For instance a 2003 350Z 6spd would have a CD003. I could make it run off of a CD001. You can PM me for more help if needed.

i've got the same troubles with my ECU, i've found an ECU from an 03 6MT... are you saying that i could send it to you and you could re-flash it to stock spec for an 04 touring, without NATS?

Correct.. Most uprev certified tuners can do this (call first though).. you just have to pay for the uprev license ($300) + labor which would vary depending on tuner. I would recommend contacting vince@rttuning
