I have HKS and ZERO issues with them... Very pleased overall. Go ARP for all your hardware. Why run the risk of possibly pushing the limits of HR hardware when you can get a good deal with a little bit of searching? I run ARP everything and am very pleased.

HR Head gasket and L19s. Isnt there someone running 9's with this setup. With L19s I really doubt there would be any issues below 1000hp, plus it has better coolant passages than DE gasket

It is extremely simple to do, do it yourself with a dremel, I and others I know have done it. I have 30k miles on mine, no issues.

Go to the JWT site and look for a PDF with details on how much to shave off.

I know this has been said by others but those don't look like the oem gaskets that came out of my engine. Oem aren't coated on the entire gasket.

when i went to order, cosworth were only sold in pairs. Roughly mid 200$ range so 260$ sounds correct.

cometics DO have the full stopper ring. I have 2 used sets i have removed from my engines and they have the stopper rings in them. I also have an unused set of HR gaskets (i wanted to use them then damaged my block so I just bought an assembled shortblock) and they have a stopper ring as well.

as for machining. The machine shop just used a dremel to open the passages. Had i known this i would have saved myself 60$ and done it in my garage. Since i ordered a new assembled short block I did not want to tear it down to cut out the passages so I just used cometics again.

From all the testing that shariff did and posted on here it appeared that the problem with head lift and pushing air into the cooling system wasn't an issue with head gaskets as much as it was an issue with the clamping force of the studs. Proper clamping force will greatly maximize the pressure a head gasket can be subjected to.

Maybe i'm a cheap *** but i've never had a single issue with a cometic gasket and won't ever stress that my cometic gasket will fail under NORMAL conditions at any power level that my rods could hold. Detonation, etc, is a different story. Just as well, i don't think the HR gasket would have any issues based on other that use it and if i could have cut my block i would have used them.

I plan on pushing this setup to 800hp without fear of HG failure. I also only used 80ftlbs on my L19's instead of the "recommended" 90ftlbs that people use on here. ARP actually says to only use 80ftlbs with their instructions that are included. I also pulled out 2 head studs from the block when trynig 90ftlbs. My snap on torque wrench is calibrated yearly and i'm confident it works properly. Maybe there was a problem with my block. I don't know and didn't want to risk it again.

So far, 80ftlbs, cometic gaskets, 650hp, coolant levels haven't increased or decreased and no air in the cooling system.
