btw, after buying the crawfordz cubby part, i found that prosport makes a 52mm blank/plug that has a silver matching bezel to most gauges, in case any one in this thread could use something like that..cost me 7 bucks shipped. will house some stainless/led switches for my halos.

anyways, thats it fer me on this one, jsut thought id share.

Thanks for the responses. I'm looking to run wideband, boost and oil temp guages. I didn't really want to put them in the cubby because 1) I wanted them more in my line of sight, at least the A/F guage and 2) I already have a scan guage in the cubby and I want to keep it because it'll give me intake temp and water temps.

I've already got a dual pillar Autometer that I picked up some time ago for cheap so now I'm thinking of using that instead of getting the triple and maybe I'll just add the wideband to the guage cluster like ace32x did. Ace32x, how hard was it to mount the guages on there, can the top be removed?

Do you want to conceal your gauges? It's really personal preference bro. Personally, I like Pro-Efi's color display.

also, get dual readout gauges like this
http://www.vgauges.com/catalog/produ...products_id=79

saves alot of room and reduces clutter. I'd personally do a dual gauge in the OEM spot like f150intally and then put the oil pressure temp in the cubby. oil temp doesnt need to be monitors every second

I like the cubby hole setup. Does anyone know if 03-05 cubby hole is the same as 06+?

Good advice on driving a car with a 3 pod pillar first.

6yrs ago when I went FI, I liked the pods, now I cant stand them. Doing left turns at ZdayZ with that thing had me looking out the fawking drivers window.

It's cheesy to me now, I look at it and laugh at what a ricer I was. I have no room for more gauges my interior its too busy and it isnt even close to being finished yet. Live and learn.

Mine is the Autometer, it matches well.

holy ish, yeah thats alot going on.

But i dunno.. i guess if i had to still drive mine daily id be more worried about it.. but knowing im moving away from that now makes me not care if its rice or not anymore.

FWIW, i got used to my Stillen 2 gauge pillar in like a few days, pretty simple to adjust..
maybe its my height.. dunno.

@Alberto, rather be safe knowing your parameters than not knowing at all, right.

^^ id say running someone over in a parking lot would suck worse than not seeing your boost guage in your face.

just my .02 ha.

being safe? by the time you notice an issue with a guage, the damage is probably done.

plus if your car really makes any power, you will never take your eyes off the road to begin with.

I know I cant

^^ this times 1 million on the damage point and plus 6 million on the driving attention part too...haha.

If im ever driving even slightly quick ( IB forums politicaly correct terminology haha) .. i ahve the radio fully off and aint looking at anything but the road and mirrors.

This is why gauges with programming and warning outputs are killer.
I just put a few leds on the back of my gauge pod ( OEM speedo etc) that fire at the dash.. keeps me from having a cluttered dash, and lets me just watch the road.. HUD flushed into the dash for RPM and speed too.. eyes straight ahead yal.

Set them safely low

I am really good at being able to monitor my A-pillar gauges while driving. Peripheral for those is easy to watch just one of them IMO. The center gauges forget it, that's why they are the nicer gauges with audible and visual warnings.

This might be a really good point. Who here can say that their gauges saved their bacon at some point? Perhaps they are not useful at all, except as a diagnostic tool. But, even then, you'd likely have a computer hooked up to it at a tuner with additional parameters being monitored.
I'm not saying gauges are a waste because I don't know. I'm just asking if it's a possibility that they aren't doing as much as people think. Particularly if they don't alarm.
Thoughts?

Thats why I think its nuts to use uprev on a built car. There are no failsafes. You have to rely on yourself to monitor basically a ton of parameters. Even the haltech has its I/O box now that can protect the engine past simple overboost or too lean.

My proefi has like 20 different failsafes, so I dont have to even glance at gauges except for my own curiosity. The only thing I watch out of habit is lambda. Thats mainly becuase I am still fine tuning the car. I check fuel and oil pressure every so often. But never see any of those when the right foot goes to the floor. But I dont have to since i have live feed back corrections from my EMS.
