Default MAF question

Ive done some research on MAF setups on FI applicatiosn for our cars. I see that none of the Turbo kits come with a different MAF listed. So im assuming it wants you to use the stock MAF sensor? Or am i wrong here.

It seems like most people switch MAF's anwyay to get the power they want because the stock maf maxes out around 400, obviously this is fine for just a bolt on kit without a built motor. The new Uprev MAF's look and sound pretty good for tuning which is nice. It's just the sensor itself correct, not the housing with it? As the charge pipes for the kits have the MAF housings in them.

I have a 05 Altima Ser, same MAF ect as the G/Z's. The kit I am looking at for my car says it converts the stock MAF setup to a blow through setup. Now i know it is harder to tune a blow through setup. But i am wondering if there is really any advantages over a stock maf setup? I want to keep the stock MAF setup on the car, with the Uprev MAF most likely. Or am i missing something here, all the kits keep it stock setup, or are they blow through setups?

Whats the real difference between the two? Is it just how and where the MAF sits in the charge piping that changes the readings? Any input is awesome.

what makes you think its harder to tune a blow thru? Thats not true. There are hundreds of properly tuned Uprev cars with blow thru maf setups. I think only the JWT TT kit uses a draw thru maf, and thats often changed out for a blow thru so you can have a vent to atmosphere BOV valve.

If you want to make more than ~350whp, you need an aftermarket MAF. Which brand, is up to you, but you do need it.

Pretty much every turbo kit is blow thru except the JWT kits. And I can tell you pull-thru is far more difficult to tune (if not impossible to get just right) than blow thru. The lag in sensor reading from actual flow for pull thru is a pretty big issue for transients. Also the AIT reading is totally wrong with pull thru.

Ok, thanks for the info, i wasnt aware of that. Makes sense to have a blow through for a non recirculating BOV.

Whats the difference between the two, just how the maf sensor sits in the tube? And the fact of how it reads is different of course. Any maf can be made a blow through or a pull through setup right, its just how the sensor sits?

Blow thru places MAF post-turbo, pull thru places it pre turbo.

Thanks for the explination and help. I can see why a pull through would be horrible to try and tune on FI
