The reason the 370Z portion of the forum is slow is because they are tired of getting hammered by HR guys about stupid stuff.

the FSM says to replace the VVEL actuator... $1000 each (one per bank) and the VVEL position sensor $750 each (one per bank)... then need Consult 3 ($12,000) to position the sensor correctly... and steps in the FSM like "do not remove any BLACK bolts" and one of the bolts needed to be removed is BLACK, gets really confusing... It is alot of professional experience needed to properly assemble the engine since some left bank and right bank parts are interchangeable, and improper placment will cause a no start and the need for complete disassembly... 37VHR is for experts ONLY!!!

That is not more better. I would expect BMW, Merc and VW to do some stupid **** like that because they cant help themselves, but that is not more better at all, and it makes having a VHR pointless. Hopefully the FSM is just overly cautious and nothing needs to be replaced.

In case you have been missing something the VVEL system is BMW VANOS... and BMW does not use it anymore... and Nissan is moving away from it too... The FSM "says" to replace them, but you don't have to... plus when you get a head from nissan you need to tear it down to assemble it since the head bolts are under the cams, that is why the VVEL engine requires an expert...
Probably has something to do with resurfacing heads. I wouldn't believe it. If the heads are that weak/warpable/sensitive i wouldn't bother trying to build the motor in general.
At least the HR is in use around the world in the EX, FX and G25. It seems like it's the more better choice of all the VQs at this point.

You are not more better. More better is a phrase I came up with for more better fun. And replacing stuff that should hold at least 3 rebuilds isn't more better.

Nothing in your post makes sense.
Talking to a mechanic he said if you remove the heads from a VVEL engine they can't just go back on like a HR/DE. Basically you have to order new heads from the factory with things aligned and locked in a certain way for install. Like something springs out of wack once they come off...this is my interpretation of what he said so don't quote it LOL

Well I can put this to rest you do not need to replace them. On my built engine I have over 700 miles so far using my same VVEL controllers.
I feel like alot of the HR guys have to find somewhere to troll... I mean any time they try to do anything beyond bolt ons, they basically take it up the *** with part prices. SO they just find someone who's got it worse.

Yes I think they can be re used a second time. I wouldn't even think about replacing them at all ever .
