Default Bov vac/boost source?

What is everyone using for a boost/vaccuum reference for their BOVs? My Tial says to use a 1/4" & that anything smaller will cause it to malfunction. do we have a secret 1/4" port I dont know about, or do I have to drill/tap my plenum?

There is a nipple in the front of the intake manifold.

The one where the hose connected to. No need for drill/tap your plenum.

Midz, I know about that one. Is that where everyone connects to for the bov? The Tial rep said to use a 1/4" ID direct line to the manifold. I have never heard of anyone tapping the plenum. But not many use Tials either. Maybe it needs more vac because its a pull type?

I used 2 Tial before. just use a direct line from anywhere in the manifold (after TB) to the BOV. Just use that nipple if there is nothing connected to it.

Also check the install manual for the GTM TT kit. They use Tial.

Oh ok good idea. I am using that port for the wastegates. I had been planning on using one of the ports on the aam throttle body spacer.
do you think that is ok? Or should I switch things up?
Thank you for sharing your experience.

Just in case someone is searching for this information later on:

The front vac port and aam tb spacer ports use a 7/32" hose. That translates to .21875". Obviously the 1/4" that Tial reccommends is .25. Only .038" difference.

Thanks again for the help midz.

I use the front port but also have my plenum tapped for other sources.

The main thing with the BOV is to make sure you don't have the line t-ed with anything else. 1 connection to the plenum directly to the BOV. I always run a single vac line for every thing that needs it. No t-off sources.

I use the front port split for several things including the BOV. Something is tapped pre-TB but it's not the BOV.. I think it's the WG reference.

Hmm, I have seen a few instances of BOV flutter that were fixed by using an independent source for the BOV with nothing t'ed on it.

I'm sure the splitters might work on some vehicles but I always reduce the amount of things that complicate the system and could cause failure so I never use a common source for reference lines.
