TB48DE swap??
Hi all,
I was reading around on the Internet about this engine, and I saw this g35 from Canada with this engine making a bit below 3000hp !!! Damn that's a lot... Anyway I have worked around this engine before on the Nissan patrol in the Middle east "UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain"... It's simply an inline 6 4.8l so bulletproof that it actually servived the abuse of sand dune drag and street "racing including running away from cops hahahaha"... Anyway I'm just curuise about the chances of matting this engine with the drive train of the 350z? Fitment wise I know for sure it has almost the same dimentions as an RB engine... Engine management, Haltech makes a Pnp platinum to run the system, but how comparable the American tuners working with this engine.? Consedering the Price of this engine 2,000$ not including shipping!!.... It's just a new subject for the FI community to take about since it have been dead for a while...

lol well in all seriousness, jokes aside if you can get your hands on one do it.
Someone in town has a sand rail car with a tb48de (crazy sand rail cars aren't too uncommon around here, I know NRE tests their engines in sand rail cars at the local dunes) and he's had it o-ringed and runs like a gt47 or something and it keeps blowing out the orings.... so we're guessing it has like 2500+hp.
I personally spent a couple of weeks calling a bunch of AUS junkyards that had them asking if they'd ship to cali and nobody would bite.

^ Yeah, if TB48DE's were easy to get a hold of in the U.S., you would see some more people using them. Also, there aren't a lot of shops here that are truly knowledgeable with the RB26 motor, let alone the TB48. So both parts and support are issues here.
I'm surprised though that we haven't seen any monster Z's or G's with TB48 swaps in the middle east yet. I've seen several vids of Nissan Patrols in the middle east that were stupid fast. Been waiting for one of those guys with a fast Patrol to transplant that motor into a Z or a G.

At one time I wanted to swap one into a Pathfinder I thought that should be a straight forward swap....but getting ahold of one is not easy. In Canada we can get way more JDM and Imported stuff than the US and they are still difficult if not impossible to come by.
Lots of shops up here have built a ton of RB26 and RB30s here every time I go to my local tuner he has at least 2 GTr32s there. I know a guy that has a 1/2 dozen RB30s ready to ship But the TB48 is still a unicorn.

damn.... I'm going back to the middle east around christmas. I know for sure I can get this engine, but shipping it is another story, my best bite is to ship it using the express US navy cargo. I do have a Nissan patrol 94 with a TB48 swap.. so I basically know how reliable this thing is.. as for the spare parts I can get them easy since I have my family and friends over there. FFffff I just built my VQ seems like a waste, and the damn thing was right infront of me for around 10 years... hahaha
