Default input for turbo hotside fabrication.

guys i will be fabricating a turbo hotside for our cars. i am building it to try to make it possible to "piece" a turbo kit together. i only plan to make the hotside and primary intercooler section.

so i am very new to this car and i am open to suggestions. currently i have planned to do a pass rear turbo location. cross over from the drivers side. intake towards the front of the vehicle (max 2' piping) Does anyone have any thing they might want to add? first round will be all V band.

the first round will be done in all 2" stainless. Projected completed cost to build right around 300 dollars.

300$ would be the material cost alone for quality stainless 2" let alone a good welder to tig it together. I would be wary at the 300$ price tag

yeah my mistake.

for the pipe right around 300. The tools are a whole different story. looks like vibrant motorsports will by supplying the bends i need.

quality looks pretty good. On previous build i used jegs and prices have seem to be bit more then they used too.

you would have a challange to put anything except a tiny turbo on the passanger side as well, theres not alot of room over there way more room on the diver side.

i was thinking the pass side as to shorten the overall lenth of piping. thank you. the cross over will work either way.

Make sure you get flex pipes and good v-bands or equivalent.

We're trying a pair of "triclover clamps" on my setup, not sure how it will work but we'll see.

All together the vbands and flexpipes will add another few hundred bucks.

OBX v-bands are actually very good and significantly cheaper. They are the only thing I have ever bought on the cheap side but on three seperate builds they worked flawless. Plus they are self aligning with built in male/female lips.

cut the flange off and weld on whatever you want...

you are gonna want to build on aftermarket headers from the start anyhow....

A lot of flea bay headers and test pipes actually come with CNC'd flanges. Or you could always fork up a few hundred more dollars and get some non magnetic, non 10 gauge, actual stainless test pipes to fabricate your hotside.
