Default Question for the FI gurus.......

i am seriously contemplating boost for my G. one question that i have (and this forum has been sooo very informative) is that how can you dial the boost up or down with out changing the a/f ratio? i frequent supraforums, and the guys there are always talking about "on this kill i had the boost set at xx", or "for daily driving i set it at xx psi". with the inordinate amount of issues that seem to occur from incorrect a/f ratios here with boost set at a predetermined level, what gives. it would seem that adjusting the boost would affect this ratio, which i know that it does. so how does one compensate? i seem to remember skidazzle is able to adjust his boost on a whim, but what about the other factory kits?

The computer is either reflashed or an included (or not included) piggyback (add on) computer adds fuel accordingly.

They may have several preset "programs" or maps that they can easily switch when they adjust boost.

If you tune your fuel controller for the highest boost you will ever see, then you can easily run any levels of boost within that range. Most aftermarket fuel controllers use pressure sensors to regulate fuel, so it will only add however much fuel you need for that specific pressure setting.

The problem people run into is if they tune the car for say 8 PSI for example. One day they get a hair up their butt and decide they need 10 PSI to beat that Z06 next to them at the stoplight. If the fuel controller isn't set up properly to run that pressure level, that's when you'll see problems.

i think one of skidazzles fuel components is the SAFC-II, which would give him 2 seperate maps to alternate between........if he has that, and some way to control the boost, then switching boost levels is relatively easy

i imagine the supra guys you're talking about have supplemented their fuel supply somehow also

Doesn't the Supra come with a MAP which from factory will know when there is more pressure to supply more fuel. Whereas we are using MAF which only detect air flow not pressure.

THe E-Manage can be tuned for deliveriung different fuel levels depending on boost. That way it always delivers the proper amount of fuel for whatever amount of boost you are running that day.

It (like the Split Second) probably uses voltage off the MAF.

On my Evo, I have a Profec B - Spec II and an SAFC-II.

I have the ability to run two seperate programs for my fuel and for boost. A few buttons and I can go between low and high boost and to a secondary fuel setting.

I only have a pump gas setting for now however.
